RB (re-position) button glitch - feedback anyone?...

Postby Baghdad Baghdatis » Fri, 15 Apr 2011 21:09

Right in one of my recent ITST matches versus Retos1 I noticed a worrying stutter in the players movement.

Im the first set whenever I was thrown out wide I used the RB button to get myself back into the court. I use the button quite a lot, some players are not that keen on it but i like it as I did in TS3. Usually with perfect timing and shot wind up I am able to chase every ball down and defend like crazy as I did in TS3 however...

A considerable amount of times my player would take a step and then stutter and almost freeze for a second which by the time he started moving again the ball was either past me or if I was lucky enough to still get there I might spoon the edge of the racket on the ball (the clunking noise).

At first I just thought my RB button was playing up (as LT did in TS3) and thought it must be due to over-use. Therefore before the 2nd set commenced I quickly changed to another relatively new pad and it was better but still kind of doing it :?

Since that match I use a 3rd pad and I have not noticed it in recent matches. However I just played a set with Puttu and after the set he mentioned EXACTLY the same issue with his player and he reckons it must be a glitch. I thought that too initially but when it went away having gone onto my third pad I thought it could not of been - and why would it come and go?

Has anyone else experienced this problem as I think it is different to the other "bug" that members have talked about?....
They call me Baggy...

Happens to me all the time, and drives me crazy. Player takes one step in the direction you are holding and then freezes in place for a second or two.

yeah it happens all the time, and no matter how many points you have on reflexes. Baggy knows my concerns about it, because it's hard to keep a long rally against a good player without a smooth move

Another glitch, bug, mistake that needs to be fixed!

Its seems the one type of player that isn't as affected are the ones with the monster defense stat. This is probably why Nadal dominates the leadership boards on PS3!

It definitely needs attention!

Yep, I'll have times where I'll be pulled off court and try to move as soon as I hit the ball, but the game will not reposition.

although I no longer have the game, yes, I noticed this also - and it persisted thru maybe 6/7 character-builds AND 3 different controllers - nothing to do with hardware IMO - incredibly frustrating especially if you're defensively-inclined : (

Exactly!!! I was pissed after playing a match as my primary all-rounder. This bug leaves you absolutely defenseless against the short-angle topspin mongers. EVERY TIME I'd be pulled off the court my guy would just stand there and I'd almost be breaking the analog stick holding it so far over!

I posted in that other thread that this is the BIGGEST issue that needs to be addressed by 2K. Forget about all the other crap, this is the basis for all the problems we seem to be having with dominant play-styles. There'd be MUCH more all-around players and defensive based players if this movement bug was resolved.

Does pushing the stick gently to get your guy started, then pushing it all the way, help?

This is how the movement in VT3 was, if you jammed the stick immediately to one direction your guy would stutter step and basically just react very slowly

I'll try it, but even in other instances, my guy would stop moving altogether as the other player hit the ball. Other times moving it gently results in my guy not moving at all...

Maybe another player has feedback for the what u suggested Jay? I've never heard anyone suggest that before...

So true and this is what is killing the game for me at the moment. I want to play defensively but if I get dragged out to the tramlines, it is almost certainly point over for me regardless of my speed stat.
I really hope they fix this soon.

I think it's been related to the automatic gameplay of TS4. Sometimes, the player automatically goes on the ball when he's near... It's a bit strange, how the gameplay is made[/i]

I do agree that ther is a glitch, but by no means what you say above should change. This is how tennis works, if you get drugged out of tramlines, doesnt matter how fast you are, you should lose the point.

Should have clarified..I meant moving out wide towards the tramlines and then stuttering trying to change direction again which is realistic I guess if you are using a slow, ballbashing type player, but not if you're using a so called speedy gonzalez.
