Lag

Postby edlglide » Wed, 13 Apr 2011 07:27

I know it's not really something they can fix, but that combined with the split step problem makes it incredibly difficult to play with a defensive baseliner online.

I just got SMOKED by ItaStallion 6-0 6-0....and he would have beaten me regardless, so don't think I'm blaming the loss on this. But there were a lot of points that I should have been in that I couldn't get in because I couldn't get my player to move back and forth across the court. I would be on one side of the court, try to get back to the middle, he would take one or two split steps then freeze and it'd be an easy winner. The character is designed to be a player who just sprints back and forth across the baseline (87 speed, 93 stamina), so when the game takes that away it just destroys the possibility of playing with that kind of player.

ok first of all there was barely any lag in our match... ran very smoothly

the problem with your character is not running to the balls it is hitting the angles since your player had no power... Only way you could win points was to take me off the court so to say which you did not do...

I only made that set up this morning cause i felt like having a power player in my arsenal...

your player got to a lot of balls it's just i could easily position myself and hit full powered flat shots to either side which eventually your not able to get to...

my guy was slow you had to exploit the angles to beat me is all i'm saying :)

i want lots of guys to experience matches with ITAStallion.

i know we have to say we both lagged and admit it, but i dont think this is the case.

right now swifty and I have noticed, that we have a problem with movement, but he doesnt seem to have any lag and runs like a rabbit :?

it is impossible to compete, when the lag affects only one side

and it doesnt even help using a powerful character, because you still have to move in points. if your every movement is hindered by freezing for split seconds, you cant win no matter what kind of setup you use.

so i think ITAStallion you need to back off your teaching lessons on how to beat you. we know we are good and competitive with swifty and im sure with better connection you would have hard time against us.

i remember back in TS1 there was a problem with lag, Europe against Australia

and he quit and deleted me as a friend he is not that good

my internet is the best it can be in Australia not my problem it is 6mb connection wired as well...

Also we have a match so get on whenever you can

P.S. both of you were hosting against me as well meaning i get the lag and you don't as much as me.......

i tried hosting against you and you said you had the same problem no way to fix the problem learn to live with it we all have to suffer through lag

 swifty is not that good lol

look at swiftys history in TS3 xbox360 :D

if you look at match history of swifty and me, you will see, that we have lost only to you in TS4 and two times we both disconnected. and we didnt disconnect because you were better than us, we did it, because lag was working unfair on us.

but as i said, lots of guys need to experience matches with you, before we can get any verdict from it.

6MBps is your download speed, but what about upload?

Actually, it might just be that. I do notice that lag is worst when I'm playing someone from Australia on the WT.

Zero will back me here...

do i cheat somehow and get lag to work in my favour we have played plenty of matches together (He is a great opponent as well)

I believe i'm being targeted here when clearly the lag is affecting us equally but i am better at coping with it than them.

I thought you said you didn't have lag? But now it's you cope with it better?

Dont play ps3 but it seems like you are contradicting yourself

I'm not sure. Anti-lag programming is an art, and I think the basic rules are
1. no one gets an advantage; and
2. affects your control as minimal as possible

And in TS4, in order to achieve point 2, the most important point is the lag won't affects your timing. That's why you always feel the lag AFTER you hit the ball (notice the slight freeze when the ball is over the net) rather than BEFORE the ball (your opponent's shot is so smooth that your timing of releasing the button is not affected).

Therefore, in fact, what you see in your screen is different from what's happening in your opponent's screen. It's really hard to determine which one gets an advantage, but, I can only trust 2K for doing it "right". If not, the blame should be on 2K rather than ItaStallion. That's an unacceptable flaw in programming.

What was Al Capone's record in TS3? I don't remember playing him, did he not play on PS3 back then?

Does all this arrogance come from playing TS4 only? Or did Pacino talk smack to you Xboxers during TS3 days as well?

Stallone might have to watch his back when these obvious movement flaws are fixed by the patch, if they're fixed by the patch!
