Shot technique advice

Postby AndyMurray ITST » Tue, 12 Apr 2011 01:28

Hi,
I keep getting beaten by players who seem to rush me, and i cant work out what they are doing differently. I usually only play with powershots, i never use control shots.

What does everyone on here use...mainly control shots until you have your opponent out of position then a powershot? or do you just use control shots?
help im trying to improve!

you will have to mix it up. While power shots are good they dont get the accuracy of control shots. you cant get the angles some people do either with the power shots.

Boom!! There is your problem right there.
Against the majority of WT, you can get by with playing just powershots but a decent ITST player will brush you aside if you don't keep mixing it up against them.
Obviously control shots are tough to time well consistently but they are devastating when you see someone who can do just that (Anil, for example).

Well....
At the beginning of a match when my player is well rested I almost always use power shots.
But if this doesn't word or when my player gets tired i try to mix up my game with control shots.
Fighter on Court - Never gives a ball up

Looking for a challenge - Prefers to play and defeat stronger players.

When I have time, i like hitting the ball deeper with a power shot or a shot-counter control shot. If the opponent is moving i almost always use a control shot to the open court to try to force them to tire out. Power shots I use when I'm pushed way behind the baseline on defense or when I notice the opponent has gotten used to my timing in rallies.
