Today's "Monday Obscure Movie Recommendation®©TM"...

Image

"In 1990, Christopher McCandless, a college graduate from Emory University, rejects a materialist, conventional life, and his parents, whom McCandless perceives as having betrayed him by entrapping him in a future of traditional lifestyle. McCandless destroys all of his credit cards and identification documents, donates $24,000 (his entire savings) to Oxfam, and sets out on a cross-country drive in his well-used but reliable Datsun toward his ultimate goal: Alaska, to experience life in the wilderness."

Great story. Great movie.

(1998) Ronin is the Japanese word used for Samurai without a master. In this case, the Ronin are outcast specialists of every kind, whose services are available to everyone - for money. Dierdre (undoubtedly from Ireland) hires several Ronin to form a team in order to retrieve an important suitcase from a man who is about to sell it to the Russians. After the mission has been completed successfully, the suitcase immediately gets switched by a member of the team who seems to work into his own pocket. The complex net of everyone tricking everyone begins to surface slowly, and deadly...

Another great movie, btw as always it would be better if you could have the chance to watch it in the original version (spanish), with subtitles in english of course.
It's a real life story about Juan San Pedro, a spaniard who fight for his right to die and in favor of euthanasia, great Javier Bardem's performance.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, no matter if you're in favor or not of euthanasia

Just watched The Machinist starring Christian Bale. I tell you this guy puts his body through so much stress for the movies he plays. It is scary how skinny he is in this movie. But nonetheless he puts on a great performance.

P.S. sorry if this movie has been posted already, I didnt want to go back and check :P

Mask (1985) directed by Peter Bogdanovich

A phenomenal movie in my opinion

Rusty Dennis is the mother of Rocky, a seriously deformed but extremely intelligent and emotionally warm child. Rusty is a no-nonsense mother whose wild lifestyle is often at odds with her tenderness and protectiveness towards Rocky. She is determined that Rocky be given the same chances and happiness that everyone else takes for granted.

Steve Prefontaine!! Not the best runner of his generation, times-wise, but there was no greater competitor in the history of sport (in my humble, in this case, quite correct opinion). Died way too young at age 24.

The documentary, HIGHLY recommended...

Image

Two Hollywood flicks about his life (not especially great, but not bad either)....
