Volley help!

Postby njgjoker » Mon, 14 Mar 2011 17:51

Hi guys, i'm loving ts4, have pretty much mastered the serve and groundstrokes but am having problems with the volley. When using Federer i tend to just "fluff" the volleys and make poor contact with the ball, never generating any real power or placement. I'm playing the 360 demo, any tips on volley controls would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

holding down the button seems more effective to me.
Seems I can't cross that threshold just yet :(

Yeah try holding down the button then releasing it as you would hit the volley, much better

Also an A volley is much more solid than an X volley, or if you're using PS3 then I should just say a standard volley is much more solid than a control volley. Though with a standard volley you risk it going out a little more.

Definitely pre-pressing is the way to go for volleys though it seems.

true sherlock.
but you can also play the volleys without pre pressing
also its important with which button(volley) you play the volleys

after a little bit practice you can handle volleys very good .

Can't you hit control shot volleys?? That would preclude pre pressing the buttons.

You can, but they don't turn out as well as the pre-pressed volleys. I'll have to practice it more, but for now it seems like pre-pressed have more strength on them, don't sit up as often, and are easier to time than control volleys.

Yeah I've reached the same conclusion. I just thought there might be somebody out there having some success with control shot volleys.

control shot volleys are hard to perform when on top of the net. I end up getting too late over and over.

Often, in a game, the things that people overlook initially and/or write off as too difficult or too inconsistent...end up being part of advanced level gameplay

So I'm sure in a couple months we'll have some control volley masters.

Somehow I find it easier to hit control volleys on half volleys and low volleys, but when you on top of the net, prepresing works best.

That makes sense, and it's probably the most natural way to handle a low/half volley: place the low volleys, power away the high volleys.
