88,000 missing is a HUGE difference from 88,000 dead. Hopefully it's just due to all the confusion that's certain in a situation like this, and the actual number will be much lower.

if that many are missing then you can bet that there are a close number of that dead. The tsunami alone incredibly catastrophic.

True man. Ireland and the UK generally have no volcanoes, earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunami's, and only one venomous creature that is pretty harmless

And I am on the east coast, highly sheltered. As far as I am aware there is not even a venomous creature in Ireland.

I always feel sick when I see the videos of people trying to unsuccessfully drive or run away from the Tsunami. You can see them losing the race before the video ends.

Absolutely awful pictures.

I know we usually moan in the UK about how bad our weather is, but at least we don't get anything like that

Make you thankful for what you have.

My heart goes out to all the Japanese. Terrible times.

88,000 sounds awfully high, really doubt all those people are dead.

That's like a football stadium full of dead people

oh yeah you're from Dublin right? My dad and most of my family are from the west. I don't think there is a venomous creature! The only one in the UK is the adder and as we all know there are no snakes in Ireland!
True hoff we moan about drizzle and rain, i know i do yet seeing something like this puts it all in perspective, we are probably the "safest" nation on the planet with regards to natural disasters.

I think it was thursday night for the us which would have been the 10th (maybe I miscalculated the times wrong). Just playing with numbers so it would work out. I don't actually believe in all the end of the world stuff.
