Man you gotta get with the program. :D

When I changed from an Eastern forehand to a semi-western I never looked back, it's just a better grip, period :D

LOL but keep in mind, Villa IS a serve volleyer... so I guess that's acceptable for him.

I use full Western Jay and when I get my Dunlops I'll try them without a 'shock absorber' (that's 3 names lol). That and the RPM strings should help me feel the ball more.

How do you play Jay?

Thats only when i play on grass. On a hard court i would use a eastern. Don't have too many good clay courts round here, only one, but i'd use a semi western just for the more topspin it gives. I probably play tht way cos my dad taught me how to play, and he's like 58 now haha.

So, anyone with some advice for me maybe? Don't know anything about strings, but now that my level is improving I'm feeling the difference between them, and new and old strings.
Using a Wilson Ksix.one 95 sq in. I like to feel the ball well, as my game is based around consistency, using the speed the opponent gives me (oh I'm not a real pusher, if they don't give my speed I can use my forehand as a real weapon). Apart from that I'm really alround, can hit every shot, no weaknesses that really stand out. Usually quite flat strokes, but I'm adjusting to get more spin on my shots.

I see some are really positive about the Babolat RPM Blast, and I see that my stringer has them as well. Any thoughts? I'm gonna ask him for some advice as well, here are the strings he has (crap image really, but well):

Oh btw, I'm not a millionaire, can't afford new strings every couple of weeks :D

If you hit mostly flat, you won't really get the benefits of RPM, or any other poly for that matter.

However, if you are trying to add more spin to your strokes, a poly will help - just don't expect the huge difference that heavy spin players see. I'd probably recommend a poly/synthetic hybrid - your stringer should have no problem with letting you mix any combination of strings. A good start would be RPM in the mains, and a good synthetic in the crosses (Prince synthetic gut is very popular).

This will give you some of the benefits of both strings: The RPM mains will be durable, and give you some extra spin; the synthetic gut crosses will give you more feel and should lower the overall cost of the string job.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I'm not expecting extreme difference/improvements or such, as the most important factor is still the ability of the person handling the racket. I can combine 2 string types, already have it now, although atm I'm hitting with a racket that still has the original Wilson string.
I don't really like the combination he puts in atm, since one string wears down extremely quick. It won't snap, but the outer layer comes loose leaving the thin inner part, and a hell of a lot of ravels..

Thanks for the feedback, gives me some basis, instead of asking him what he would suggest with my having no clue what he's talking about :D

Don't worry about your strings "unraveling". That's normal for most good synthetics. As long as you have a back-up racquet, just ignore it and use it until it breaks.

Do you know what strings you have now? Hybrids can be quirky - how well a hybrid plays and how long it lasts isn't just about the individual strings - it's about how the two strings interact with each other. So if your crosses break too quickly, then it might help to use different crosses, or it might actually be the mains which are to blame.

Ah, didn't know that the unraveling doesn't really matter, it always looks really weird, so much difference than originally that you'd say it should make some difference.

Anyway, the main is solid white and the cross is white but slightly transparent, that's all I can say :D
Should ask my stringer, as I can't see any brand on the string. The main doesn't have a brand printed on it, and the cross is totally gone, but no indication of a brand on the parts near the frame either.

The interaction seems quite good though, can't see the main string significantly cutting into the crosses, if that's what it's about.

'All around' I guess. I'm a decent player, I bet we could have some close games in real life :P

Nah I'm not bad. At my best (like, when I'm playing a lot) I'm a 4.5 player for sure, maybe 5.0. These ratings are from a private coach and from the coach for our team when I played for a semester at Long Beach City College...

I played yesterday and I was volleying better than I ever have in my life it was crazy. I practice reflex volleys against a wall a lot so maybe it's helping
