Hard to answer in brief and I'm on a bus right now......

Tesla very conveniently left all those hats and critically, the cat lying around exactly where Angier would see them - it's impossible that Tesla and his assistant wouldn't have seen them after weeks/months of experimentation.

Angiers double died in the tank on the day Borden went below stage - most f the other shows, it was Angier himself on stage - not on that day tho - it was his obsession and Cutter's (Michael Caine) story about drowning that enabled him to commit the act - that and bloody minded revenge.

Once Angier knew the Tesla machine was a hoax or more accurately, a brilliant illusion contraption, he also knew that Borden definitely used a double.....and set about his revenge. He even buys. The secret from the imprisoned Borden and then rips it up, unviewed.

Cutter becomes the hero of story when, after visiting Lord Caldlow, realises whats happened - he's been made complicit in murder of innocent man (Root - Angiers double) - he enables Fallon, Bordens double to be there at the end to deal with Angier.

Simples lol!!!!!!!!

That's what I think anyway - it's the only thing I can up with that answers all the questions/loose-ends........

i have here a movie where is still incredible great.
really worth to watch this movie

i saw him 15 years in past and i never had forgotten him ,and than again a few days in past i saw him again . just a awesome movie

Altered States is one of my all-time favorites - and William Hurt is one of the all-time best.

no sorry , i don´t know this movie.
but i will keep a eye on it. i´m sure its a great movie coz william hurt is involved.
so i will try to figure out the german title to watch him.

at moment i watch really so much movies, so i´m happy for every pointer to good movies,where i didn´t have seen

Altered States is indeed a must see. Starts out as a relatively tame drama, and before you know it the end is ridiculous sci-fi (wtf!). But a great ride.

You mean the drunk double died... I see your point now. I never thought of that possibility, I took the magic at face value. The movie goes to extreme lengths to make it seem plausible (blind stagehands for example), and I saw no hint of deception on Tesla's part. Why would he hide the truth if Angier would discover it the first time he tried the machine on his own? There are still a lot of loose ends in my mind, will need to see it again now to pick out some key points.

Either way, very interesting stuff.

Ahhh....but Tesla kept Angier stringing along for quite some time....and as to why? So he could take his money and dedicate it to his own (now unappreciated, and no longer funded) research.

As to taking the 'magic' at face value - me too!!! But there are pointers in the movie not to do that....Cutter references it several times - mostly in his line where he says '..But you don't see the trick - why? Because mostly people WANT to believe in the magic' - actual teleportation being the thing I wanted to believe was happening (or replication, technically)....it just doesn't answer all the questions.....

Awesomely clever movie....took the Nolan chaps 8 years to make apparently....can see where the time went : )

What did you guys think about "Shrek IV"? I thought it was as good as the first release!! :wink:

I also watched "Tangled," a Disney movie based on a fairy tale story. It was not as action-pack as the movies you guys watch, but it was funny and had a great story line to it.

Cool name, but he also has a band, and has done other films, including a crap Halloween remake(and i dont like horror films!)
