riley is not someone who uses this from my experience, (but if he has been, then yes, I agree... constant wide serves is cheesy)

CAN ANYONE THATS PLAYED ME ADVISE ME WHAT IM DOING WRONG,

I've played lots of friendlies with you, and I have never seen you used cheesy tactics. Reading the forums recently, it seems you may have been using a short slice directly after serve.

Using a short slice after your serve is really cheesy, the shot is 'broken'.. far too effective, and easy to do. If you have used this shot when we played, I would have messaged to explain that it is cheesy.

It's good though that you are discussing it openly with everyone. Main thing is to have fun bud

Kinda same thing I said to you. What you recently found out, we knew all along. And when you playing using only these tactics....you will not be accepted well, but it is totally your choice man. As in any community, there is a "popular" vote and the "un-popular". Both can coexist and both will ALWAYS be part of our community.

Since the majority finds certain tactics cheesy, there is a good chance they are, considering that same majority is very much prolific in these tactics and doesn't not use them by choice, rather then because of inability.

My outlook, if you care, is:

Wide serves are not cheesy. But, expect someone to almost always risk these back to you, either ending a point or hitting an error. Then if you return a favor, it simply becomes boring. There is NOTHING cheesy about risk returns, far from it, they are part of today's tennis game, but when you do it all the time and your success rate is less then 50% (I am not even talking 2 out of 10 now), it is just makes the match unbearable for me. There is no need to constantly risk if you want to be aggressive on returns. Take Nakamura and be aggressive with little to no risk or just a L2 risk. What you doing is you taking Cannon, because of serve rating and then "force" the risk return out of his lower stat. Hence bypassing the whole design of SIM. Can you do it? ....is it within the rules? SURE! GO AHEAD.

But since you asked, I think this is the answer you looking for.

Pretty match the only shot that I do find cheesy is short slice. It is simply overpowered in this game and resembles to me a sorta "cheat code" a "short cut" to either winning a point or generating a weak reply. Why? ....simply because the movement to the net is broken in this game, these short slices in many situations, actually 9 out of 10 times should result in an easy put-away by opponent, instead they somehow "cripple" your movement and "strip" of power your shots, resulting in an easy point on the next shot of the opponent, if you get to the short slice.

Rest of cheesy stuff is tactics. No other shots are cheesy.

My opinion about drop shots is that they are too effective when behind the baseline and on the run. This is almost impossible to do in real life tennis, the first rule of drop shot is being well in side the court when doing it. I love to use drop shot, I use it plenty, maybe 8-10 times a match.....but I never use it as a defensive weapon or after serves. Mostly I use it to wrong foot you, since the "playing L1 and R1" buttons can make you spin on a dime, this way of wrong footing assures you a point, well deserved - since you are in offensive position inside the court and opponent is on a dead run. He should not be able to simple "flash" back against the momentum of his body weight.

ufff....too much typing!

See, im the same :) Cept a lot of the time, my service(blocked) returns from my backhand side go very short, like drop shot short and are like the cheesy short slices and they usually go for winners. I dont like playing them, so i'd like to ask you what is the best way to not do these shots. My block is quite good, i can usually get it quite deep(deeper on backhand wing, since i cant push my backhand in, due to my weak wrists lol). But i occasionally get these shots, and its annoying

Such a funny but accurate way to describe this. I admit, I was VERY guilty of this tactic as well.

Dropshots - when used like DJ said or when you have control of the point, like in real tennnis, is perfectly ok. When used after serve or as a winner after hardhitting shot (like Likos said) is cheesy. (and stupid)

Ok, i am not going to complaint about anything, and of course i don´t know what happened in your match with likos , but riley, in our las match u used some short slices, no after service but u used that shot in tactic moments, like a 15-30 for example, with that free point u saved a possible double break point, anyway i admit that i used too after u did it, and i don´t say that the match was risk slice all the time.

I don't see how anyone can say slice, short or long, is not realistic. Federer slices off his back hand at least 40% of the time I would say And he does use short slice quite often to neutralize his opponent's ground strokes (quite effectively). Anyone who saw the Nole match against his German opponent last night witnessed the German Guy using slice including short slice constantly against Novak to very good effect against one of the best ground strokers in today's game.

Now return winners are not realistic and rarely occur in men's tennis off 120+ MPH serves, yet some in itst have seemingly perfected this tactic and use it often especially in tiebreakers!!!
