Lech Swatkowski - as a junior he reached the Final of Wimbledon and captured Roland Garros title. Has a wonderful clay court game with booming Forehand. One of the better servers on junior tour with phenomenal placement, has a good touch at net as well. His backhand is a liability - it is both soft and lacks placement and verity. Some rumors say that this crafty player lacks firepower to win Majors at the pro level. Time will tell.
Alex Mahone - his decision to turn pro came after his dominating performance at US Open juniors where he reached the final without dropping a set eventually capturing the title. With his ability to paint the lines with his forehand and finish points at the net, many predict he will reach top 20 but the end of his first year on the tour and eventually win a few majors. Some skeptics believe that his lack of placement on serve and "one dimensional" backhand will limit his potential.
Gil Grissom - has the biggest "upside" from this wave of newcomers. Finalist in Roland Garros (Lost to Lech Swatkowski), Semi Finalist at Australian Open and a Quarter Finalist in Wimbledon. It's hard to find a weakness in his game, but it is just as hard to find a real weapon. Lots of potential for further developing his game, solid from both wings, good footwork and consistent return game. He wins by grinding out his opponents and has a "never give up" attitude that should take him far on the tour. His height will probably be his biggest weakness in a world of giants that is our tour today.
The players are said to hit the court by the end of the week and should be able to enter next weeks tournaments. Open practice is scheduled for Friday, so everyone is welcome to come check the new guys out!
