Talk about anything related to the ATP and WTA tours.

Yeah. Wasn't he like only the second player to ever regain the no. 1 ranking? That would mean that nobody has done that twice. :D

I think he was the second person to have lost it at the end of the year, and then regained and finish number 1 at the end of another season

im surprise of seeing some posts.. Let just say that Federer has made us believe he has to win all the games.. but he is another tennis player..

i mean c'mon.. he won australian open.. so he has won 1 of the 2 Grand Slams of the year and you are already retiring him???..

maybe some are just happy of seeing him lose cause that proves his human  ..

you can see both sides of the argument,

On the one hand one might say that it's crazy to say that Federer is washed up and just a spent force.
He's won the Aussie Open this year which by itself would represent an enormously successful season for most of the other top pro's. He's also reached the finals of Madrid and Halle and a QF at the French.

The flip side of the above is that by his standards that represents a rather lean winning return.
From 2004-2007 he won a total of 42 titles.
From 2008 up to present he's won 9 titles.
That is a significant drop-off and whatever the reasons(age, motivation perhaps not there for the 'lesser' titles, whatever) it would indicate that Fed's prime years are in the past.

I still believe though that in the matches over the best of five sets(apart perhaps from clay) he's still the guy to beat.

Yeah I'm kinda out of original observations. Over the past month I haven't been watching tennis as obsessively as I have been over the past couple years, so I'm kinda out of the loop. I'm taking a small break from it to avoid burning out completely on tennis. I'll always LOVE tennis for sure.

Federer dumped a good 18 months of his winning ways in the trash when he got married/had kids. True story.

Have these 18 months happened or gonna happen because I can't think of 18 month when fed hasn't won a slam or got to semis and being ranked at first or 2nd.

This guy won aus open just this year lol and rg wimbledon last year and final us and aus last year. I suppose in 08 he lost in semi and then to rafa in 2 finals then won us open. He only made it to a semi, 2 finals and won a gs in 08 and that was his 'bad' year lol.
