The question is who? Lot's of guys have shown glimpses of great form but have not backed it up, someone else needs to be winning or making finals consistently to break the monoploy.

No for wimbledon and finally the US. Fed can get his one week next year around rg. Because I don't think even nadal will manage all 3 masters again. And fed played poor in masters and other tournaments apart from aus open.

Anyway WOOP WOOP.

Federer will have to have a good Autumn after the USO to get back within distance of No.1. He doesn't generally do that well later in the year apart from Basel and YEC.

According to this poll, a rather large 48% of the ITSTers doubted the King of Clay.

Federer's game is taking on water. I'd be surprised if he reaches the Wimby final.

Yep!

Sooner or later, they all fade away - just ask Laver, Connors and McEnroe - EVEN Stefan Edberg, if you can believe that. :)

Yes, but unfortunatly Laver, Connors, Big Mac and Mr. Edberg played in different eras with different opponents.

In todays Tennis, Federer and Nadal are the only high caliber player on grass, maybe Roddick as a challenger, nothing more.

Murray, Djokovic, Tsonga, Del Potro and all others are average to solid grass players, nothing more.

Take a scale from 1-10, 5 = average, 10 = among the best. Let s do it on grass:

Federer: 10
Nadal: 9-10
Roddick: 9
Murray: 8
Djokovic: 7
Söderling: 7
Del Potro: 3-5
Tsonga: 5-6

That s the way it is. Compare it to Edberg s era:

Edberg: 10
Becker: 10
Connors: 9 (10 in his prime)
Stich: 9 (10 on good days)
Courier: 8
McEnroe: 10
Sampras: 11
Ivanisevic: 10
Cash: 9-10

They all were amazing on grass. Today most of the players are amazing on hard and some on clay, but not much on grass.

Federer is maybe not at his best anymore, but even if so he s still a 9 calliber, someone who can win there.
With the same competition like 10-20 years ago i would agree with you because there were so many great grass court players. But not today.

Quite a few of the others spent quite a few later years in mediocrity, i hope Fed doesnt do the same, ideally he would retire after coming from 2 sets an match point down to win the 2012 Olympics and as a result return to No.1 to beat Sampras record. :D
