Lead-up tourney's to Wimby.

Two important ATP grass court tournaments before Wimbledon gets under way are the Queen's (Aegon Championships) in London, and the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany.

Here's the main draw for the Queen's tourney:

Roddick in Novak's half, Murray in Rafa's.

And the draw for the Halle tournament:

So should be a 500 event. That field pretty goddamn strong. (Queen's)

No 500 events on grass is a joke and is totally unfair considering the points clay courters can pile on in the lead up to RG.

Queens is usually always a great tournament, can't believe Roger has never decided to play it and come to London early, the courts are generally considered the best grass courts in the world, even compared to Wimbledon.

I agree...the grass 'season' is extremely half-assed. I think they should either treat it like they treat every other surface (many more tourneys, bigger events leading up to the Slam, etc) or just get rid of it!

I guess there aren't too many places that even have grass courts anymore so that might be a large part of the problem.

even just a restructuring so queens and halle weren't at the same time would be better. I can't see mahut's name in the queen's draw, hope he gets in.

Taylor Dent vs Kevin Anderson on fast grass should be a right ding dong lol.

I agree. Although on the bbc it gets extremely boring with andrew castle constantly going on about how "dave" the groundsman does a great job, like he's his best mate. I bet this dave hates the sight of castle lol.

If my counts are right, the clay season can bring you 5750 points (3 masters, 1 ATP 500, 1 ATP 250 and Roland Garros )when grass season could bring only 2250.
It's not really fair.

You could get 250 for queens/gerry weber, then you'd have to get a mad rush on to get to the 250 ordina open in netherlands, then wimbledon, and then the hall of fame championships after wimbledon, so you could get 2750, nearly impossible to get though.

No chance of Roger ever playing Queens now :(

Also no Hewitt at Queens, very surprising given his excellent record there.

Sue is not OK, she knows squat about tennis, she can't even pronounce anyones names!! I think she appeals to the OAP's who tend to tune in to Wimbledon during the day.

My Gran only watches tennis at Wimbledon, she told me Nedeel was going to win today, I'm sure she means Nadal. She doesn't think "that Scottish lad" will win though. :D

This is so true... Can't someone tell her how to say the players' names before she goes on air.. It's quite embarassing to see on TV

LMAO. I think sue barker fluked her way to the FO once. ( i say fluked, as i dont think she was ever that good). but i remember my mum saying she won it, and i cba to google it.

I think hewitt is looking for a "shake-up" in preparation for wimbledon. The thing is these days hes like a poor mans version of davydenko, which isn't going to win him another wimbledon
