Warm Ups for Roland Garros

Talk about anything related to the ATP and WTA tours.

Having said all that, I do agree that the grunting/shreaking is out of control. Stan Smith said it best a few years back, he called it legalized cheating.

If you can´t hear the ball coming off your opponent´s racket because they´re having a mini-orgasm, you can´t tell what kind of shot is coming or exactly how fast it will arrive.
And that´s bull.shit, but I see no way to fix it now that it´s become so commonplace to FREAK OUT OMGIMHITTINTHISBALLSOHARD whenever you hit a dropshot.

Martina and Monica didn't play at same period,no?So how could she complain about it? :idea

Actually their careers did overlap.
In fact I think they played each other about 20 times.

Tennis Rules

A. The receiver's partner may stand anywhere, even in the service box. Once the receiver's partner takes a position, he/she should remain there until the ball is struck. If the receiver's partner suddenly and abruptly moves away before the ball is struck by the server, then it could be deemed that the only reason they initially took such a position was to hinder the server, and that is not allowed.

Note: The receiver may change positions to receive serve at any time prior to the serve and may even stand in the service box. Waving the racquet, making noises with or stomping the feet is not permitted by any player.

USTA Rules.

I know the rules, and I saw the match. It was unusual to be sure, but it was NOT the deciding factor in the match.

At least, I hope it wasn't... because I like Hantuchova as well, and that would be a pathetic reason to lose.

Speaking about distractions, wasn't Seles ordered/advised not to grunt at a certain point in her career because it was so off-putting to the opponent?
I think it was some Wimby final of the early '90's where she was unusually quiet.

Yeah, she was robbed in that Wimbledon final. 1-6 2-6 to Graf...

Navratilova was a bad looser anyway, she couldnt cope with the aggression of Seles at her best, and yes she was robbed at Wimbledon no doubt.

Like I said if a person can't cope with a shoe squeek then youre not a pro. I play baseball and when i pitch eveyone is yelling! You have to block things out and if you can't then don't play.

To say a match was lost because of sho squeeking is absurd! She just choked!!

Exactly, do you play tennis professionally?
There are many people complaining about these things in tennis, not just Daniela.
Umpires ask audience to keep quiet during play for a reason.

I play tennis tournaments as well

people keeping quiet and shoes squeeking are different things, but noneheless it shows which players have less mental focus.

Petrova was appaling but Ana held firm and was solid. Great chance to make the final now.

Some of those volley chance she missed were just

Ana served well though. But her game has changed she used to have this hyper aggressive game that revolved around that HUGE forehand, now she looks like a pusher to be honest.

True but I'm hoping it is just a period of trying to stabalise her game so she has something to fall back on when she gets tight. Hopefully the more confident she becomes the more she is going to look to unleash on the forehand.

If this style is here to stay then she will be the next Hantuchova
