I agree 100%.

On a related note, I think it was Sam Querrey who said he'd be all for fans trying to distract the players. Kind of like in basketball where the fans are all waving and shouting when a visiting player goes for a free throw. I like this idea too, if you can't concentrate when it counts you're just not as clutch as the guy who can.
Tennis is one of the ONLY sports left where they kick a fan out for farting too loudly during certain points of a match, and the players ALL bitch when people are talking in whispers about how awesome the match is. LAME. If I can play a tournament match next to a freaking interstate with sirens going off all around, PROFESSIONALS should be able to deal with an old man coughing during their second serve.

There's a big big difference between a player shrieking when they hit the ball and a player causing a noise hindrance when you're the one hitting the ball. And yes when you'r mid stroke and a squeaky sound is heard it is understandable that it will make you lose you'r concentration.

Most of the screams last from them winding up the shot, hitting it and can still be heard when it reaches the opponent.

The fact was she choked and she let it get to her when she was well in control. Also Ivanovic always did that on return, if there are going to be rules about noise hinderance they need to be a bit more consistent.

Martina Navratilova is a pro, she still complained about that Monica Seles's grunting causing her to lose concentration and not letting her hear Monica's contact with the ball.

Hey otlichno- I'm right there with you on most of the things you have to say, but you're trying to win an impossible argument. By nature, professional sports are meant to be observed by a large number of people. As a direct result, there will be distractions.

Whether they come from the other player, the wind, airplanes, or a cardiac arrest in row 12 is irrelevant. Once the point starts, you finish it. Then, and only then, do you worry about the weird shit that just happened.
I've never played for $$$$, but I've been in plenty of tournament matches that were incredibly tense. If any opponent had lost a point and then whined about my shoes squeaking (whenever) too much I would have burst out laughing - it´s clearly a joke.

Unwanted noise is just another excuse for blowing it. If it's possible to distract a pro player with a 'squeak' so much that they CHOKE THE REST OF THE MATCH, that player should reconsider their career choice.

Get used to whatever distraction is there, and play through it. These kinds of excuses are for 12 year old girls, not the pros.
