Screen gets frozen during a match

Postby locati_agosti » Mon, 15 Mar 2010 16:44

hello everybody! i´m new here and i´m looking forward to playing my first tourament this week. However sometimes when i play online my screen gets frozen and the only thing that i can do when that happens is quit the match

I think that is because of crappy south american hosts and internet.

What should i do if that happens during a tournament match??

Hope to became a good player!

thanks!

Hes from argentina mate

Anyway if you get freezes during a match you just take from the score when it froze, by serving aces/whatever till you reach the point where you froze

Hi locati, welcome to the Tour :tu

We have all been there with screen freezes. If you get frozen during ITST match, try to replay the match from the scoreline that it was frozen. Consider it like a rain delay.

If the problem is really bad and you are unable to reconnect or finish the match, then contact the tournament host explaining the situation. They will then take the appropriate action, which is likely a 'coin toss'. This is for the worst case scenario though, try to finish the match if it is playable.

I would think that if the players know which one of them is having the connection issues which is causing the game to keep freezing (you can usually tell by who ever suddenly gets signed out of xbox live), the most fair thing to do in this case would be for the player with the connection issues to concede the match. Doesn't seem fair that a lucky coin toss should decide. That is just my take on it.

i see it in same way. the player where had the problem (permanently dissconecting from x-live ) must say that to the host ,that it is his problem ,
and he got the loss when he can´t fix the problem !!

its the problem from 1 player - not the problem from both player.
so when the player can´t fix the problem he must earn the loss.

thats fair in my opinion -

BTW: think about that : hey i must play norberto h .i have no chance to win - so i dissconnect simply permanently and i have a 50-50 coin toss chance to win the match!!

THAT CAN´T BE !!
HOPE YOU CAN SEE THE POINT

What Sound said is completely right, and what you said about one conceding the match is also right but that´s up to the players, the host can´t know who´s causing the connection problem, that´s why we usually make the coin toss decission when connection problems.
But each situation is different, we always try to be as fair as possible, and "adapt" the rules to each situation, (don´t misunderstand the word "adapt" please)
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

It is important to note, XBOX has almost no disconnections. Very rare. I think I had 2 the whole year. Plus, on XBOX it is very easy to see whose connection failed. As Mack noted, whoever signs off....is the one. If the player doesn't sign off....then you can simply look up his profile and see if he is still in TS3 or in Dashboard. If dashboard, then likely you were a victim of deliberate disconnect. Report to host.

PS3 - is completely different and unpredictable. There is simply no way to tell whose connection failed. That makes it tough for hosts. We look at things like "when" during the match connection breaks. Sometimes it can help to piece the puzzle together. Most times, it doesn't.

Coin toss is not meant to be fair or unfair. It is a way out of the situation. There is no way to rig the coin toss. Pure luck. You may hate it....but there will be no one to blame if the luck is not on your side. On a very rear ocations, this is the only way to "move on" .

for the PS3 tour its more hard for the host to find a decision . ,so a coin toss is a good decision

luckywise for xbox360 tour the hosts mostly need no "cointoss " in that case .!
it counts/work exactly how mack "mentioned " it :!:
you can see clearly on which side the problem is :!:
