Scheduling matches

Postby brgerflipr » Wed, 03 Mar 2010 20:00

I had a hard time scheduling a match w/ an opponent recently. And he said that he was told by "OTHER ITST MEMBERS" that there are always time issues w/ me. If this is truly how some of you feel, I apologize.

Granted, my window of play is a little small, but I'm always on time. And whenever I'm not, I always PM a few hours, if not a day, in advance.

Everything is OK w/ said opponent now, we have no hard feelings. But I just wanted to make sure that the rest of the community wasn't fed up w/ my scheduling. I look forward to your inputs.

Never had any problems brgerflipr. He is always on time or if he can't make it he always lets me know in advance and we reschedule.

I really think that we give enough time to play matches and 99% of the time it is possible to find a time to play for both players.....that is of course if both parties are interested to get the match played. We all have different schedules and we just need to be more understanding, thats all.
Instead of accusing each other of having a tough schedule, find compromises. I know brgerflipr has his hands full, but the last thing I want is to make him feel like he can't compete in ITST because of tight schedule. If I can, I will always accommodate, no questions asked. If I have more free time then the next player, why would I hold that against him??? No one should feel like they need 10 hour a day window to compete in ITST, that is not the case.

As a host, I always prefer to have the matches played rather than issue a WO or a NO MATCH. I am very generous with extensions, if you ask and if I see you are indeed trying to get the match played and not just asking for one because you forgot to play the match. It is also worth noting that extensions for any rounds prior to QF is a big no-no. It delays the tournament too much and will not be granted.

No problems, even though we haven't played for a while.

your times arent difficult its just im in Hs so i have stuff i do after school and on the weekends. and thus i get back 10 or 20 mins late then we cant play because u leave or have to go somewhere and it continues which makes it more annoying because i have no control if im late school, activities, tennis practice, gym. :?

we all got stuff on our plate dude. i think if everyone tries to make it on time or let their opponent know in advance that they're gonna be late, everything will be ok.

btw, you played great this morning, congrats on a good win. that 3rd set was fun and your returning was on fire.

Scheduling can definitely be tough, and we all have to make compromises. However, given the circumstances this week (PSN being down for up to 36 hours for some of us), I feel the hosts should have given more leeway.

Even if the match in question was before a quarterfinal!
