TopSpin 1 Tour Final Tournament

Postby Rob ITST » Sun, 06 Dec 2009 20:55

To commemorate the ending of our longest running tour, we are holding a special tournament - The Top Spin 1 Final Tournament. The tournament is open to all members of the PC TS1 tour and prizes will be given out to all participants.

The Top Spin 1 Final Tournament will be contested using SIM rules.

Everyone who plays all of their matches will receive a coupon worth $5 USD towards the purchase of the Dream Match Tennis Pro game. In addition, we will be giving away one copy of Dream Match Tennis Pro as a Grand Prize. The winner of the Grand Prize will be determined by a drawing which will be held at the end of the tournament.

To be eligible for the coupon and the drawing, you must play all of your matches. Any player who loses by walkover or 'no match' will not be eligible.

Good idea Rob, but not a lot of Top Spin 1 players I surveyed like Dream Match Tennis. They are, however, interested in Top Spin 2. So, I am recruiting and training with them.

Hopefully, this will serve as an incentive.

And those non-Sim players? A bit unfair. Why not use Supersim? :D

(Supersim: only from behind the baseline without lobs nor many drops. Coming to the net only allowed when a drop was played)

Who's paying the coupons?

What an honour to me to be the last who hosts a TS1 tournament ;)

I wish we could do Reg too, but we can only do one tournament. Sim was chosen because it's more popular.

Bimboosoft is providing the coupons.

Rob. You can only do one tournament because of the funding? Please send me a pm. I think I have a plan. Then again, if the draw is 64, that will include most sim players now and the few reg players we have.

5-15 reg players + 23-32 sim players = a good 28-47 players in a draw. Not bad.

I think the tournament should be anything goes. All players can play (as already stated and sim/reg play can be used during the draw).

In other words, we will revert back to the way Top Spin released the game. For all shots to be used.

It will often not, but it does not hurt to try. Oh, if you are still interested, we can play Top Spin 2. My gamepad is busted for now, but I will play with another one while the new ones are place on order. :)

We're not suggesting that DMT will replace TS1. This is simply to give all the TS1 players an option to play a new game at a lower cost.

What about let only the players which are already inserted in the game (the pro players) to be chosen to play with?

Or make a mixture, one set reg, one sim, third female :D

That is a lot of tactics/strategy changes in one match. :) I mean, I am up for whatever challenge really, but I am not sure about the others.
