or is it forbidden for refere to stopp it before 1 punch started ??

its a riddle for me.the referees are only watching

This is why hockey is one of the greatest sports of all time.

You get a 5-minute penalty for fighting...doesn't matter if you knocked the guy out, broke his nose, knocked out some of his teeth; 5 minutes is all you're gonna get unless you try to hit him with your stick or something :D It seems so backwards, even I must admit, but it's just a tradition in hockey. Almost every game has a fight.

Many players are on team strictly as 'enforcers'. They are usually quite large, intimidating fellows who can't skate or handle the puck very well, but they are there to protect the team's star players; to intimidate the other team into leaving the 'star player' alone.

How long does a fight last??, I mean if nobody knocks out his rival when should the referee stop it?
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

They usually stop it when A) One guy is being beaten senseless or B) The fight is at a stalemate. Other than that, they let them fight it out until they're on the ground.

seeing a hockey game live is the coolest--way better than watching it on TV

thanks for answer. thats really hard  i m not shure but in german ice hockey they had different rule about fighting. when the guy where strike you down is a much bigger guy, than the defense can shoot him once.
but maybe im wrong and they had the same rule
