Troicki in Rome

I'd just like to have some opinions about what Troicki did in Rome.
For those who didn't see it, Gulbis put a ball on/behind Troicki's baseline. Troicki decided to stop the point cuz he thought it was out. The umpire came to watch it, and said it was in. Then Troicki didn't want to let it go that way, and so...

So, overreacted or not ?

Actually, the way you described it is backwards. Trociki's shot was the one in question, there was no call from the line judge but the chair umpire overruled it out. Troicki flipped, hopped the net and went into a 5 minute meltdown culminating with him grabbing a cameraman and forcing him to film the mark in question from point blank range.

Definitely an overreaction, but he may have been right. It was really too close to call for sure one way or the other. In the end it probably wouldn't have mattered if he'd gotten the call, he was getting thumped.

That last live shot makes it look like he was right.

Still an overreaction, but that umpire will be getting some heat from other players anytime he overrules anything from now on.

Troicki had one of the best lines I've ever heard..."you can see it from space ." And the way he said was so dramatic and believable. Now the umpire let all that go on and could have stopped it anytime he wanted. Troicki actually didn't hop over the net to look at that mark(which is proper tennis etiquette) until the umpire motioned that he could come look at the mark. I was entertained by Troicki antics, and impressed with gulbis' composure...being up 6-1 at the time .

The mark I saw looked like it could be either way. And Troicki did have a point saying the umpire didn't want to over rule himself. And with the challenge system you wouldn't have this problem because it is independent of the umpire and it gives you close ups of extremely close calls.

Troicki went over board a few years ago at the French Open when a ball boy ran across too early when Troicki had a spike put away. By rule the point had to be replayed. He could have acted like it was no big deal, but no not him, he of course dramatized it for a minute or so. Then a few points later when his opponent spiked a short ball he pointed out the ball boy and motioned with his arms like why didn't you run across early? The boy was almost in tears. Very poor form Victor.
