Philippoussis has received a wildcard for the qualifications at Indian Wells.
The 34-year old Australian, who was last active in 2006 at the US Open, wants to return to top level.
Philippoussis reached the final at the US Open (1998) and Wimbledon (2003) and once was ranked 8th. Due to a series of knee injuries and, according to critics, a dissolute style of living, the service canon never reached major successes.
For the last few years the 'Scud' has been playing on the Champions Tour, where he regained the pleasure in the game. "I just like the game and want to prove to myself that I still can play it."
Any thoughts? Surely he'll do better than Muster..
And if 'according to critics, a dissolute style of living' is true, than Gulbis should be warned for the competition.
Good to see a S&V-player back, especially now that Ancic retired.
