I play ITST matches, but that's about it -- I don't really play WT or anything else; I don't have that much time to sit around and play video games online.

You think it is less fun now. I think it is more fun and more realistic. I would also much rather go out and play real tennis (which I usually do), but when I'm going to play a video game I'd prefer it be like real tennis too.

This is why it's good that there are two tennis games though -- if you want to play a tennis game that's designed to be less realistic, just get Virtua Tennis! I bought Top Spin because I wanted it to be more realistic.

Yes it's completely "subjective" and obviously you like the patch. GREAT so let them have a patch for folks like YOU that play ONLINE competitively (like I wrote before) and put the offline mode BACK to the way it was before.

And I'm sorry but if you actually do play tennis and you actually think that this game is "realistic" in any way compared to real tennis I'm not really sure what game you are playing.

I have a strong serve and my forehand is a WEAPON. I use my serve to setup my forehand and when it works out I generally win the point.

This USED to be somewhat the case with the game before the patch (although no video game IMHO is "realistic" when compared to actual tennis) but now you cannot hit winners off your strong side.

How is this more "realistic" what makes it more "realistic" for you?? Because there are more unforced errors and no weapons?

To me that just makes it frustrating and boring... if "real" tennis were like that I doubt I'd play because I wouldn't be able to attack a weaker shot or weaker opponent... I'd just hang out on the court forever and wait for him to miss.

Although the way they've changed the stamina to run out like a bucket of water filled with holes doesn't even allow you to do that.

What level do you play tough ? because I play 4.5 which is pretty advanced and if I play someone of equal skill level I hardly hit any winners , it is usually on the short balls that you do , and it is usually followed by a an approach to the net and even then they may get their racket on the ball , for either and unforced error or an easy put away volley or smash .

Even in college level you don't see that many winners , hell even at pro levels the only ones hitting a bunch of winners are the top 10 or 20 .

IF you guys don't want long rallies then make a character with volley and come to the net , that way either you win or lose fast but no long rallies.

update is good.... BUT...

Postby Neso007 » Fri, 10 Jun 2011 11:42

i think the update is ok, but there are small things thet need to be changed...

if i got my opponent to hit a weak ball then i want to have a chance to hit a winner, but it´s impossible (without having a good volley stat) because

1)a powershot does not go anywhere near the line but to the middle of the court and its WAY TO SLOW!

2) a well placed shot is, even with perfect timing so slow, that the opponent can reach it

DId you follow the ball to the net?

yeah, i tried, but with a volley stat of 40 there is no chance to make the point....i am a baseline player and i want to play that way..why should i be forced now to crate s&v players or a player with better volley stats, if i am a baseline player ?

if you play with the pro guys, you have no chance at the net when you have nadal or djokovic !

A lot points are won at the net , the reason joko and nadal are hard to volley us because they keep the ball deep but when they leave a ball short trust me they come to the net , if you watch the replays from the demis and finals nadal and joko both came o the net quite a few times

But besides you cant mqke the rules of tennis based on the two top players of the world ! Everyone in tennis volleys, the only reason some people are called baseliners , volleyrs etc is because of the style they prefer to play , but all of them have to be able to play anyware un the court , if you cant grasp this simple concept then be prepare tonplay endless rallies and/or lose

I played a few hours last night and i must say i am very delighted with the patch. The tactics involved in the rallies are just great. I never believed they could update the game to this level when i first played the game.

Of course i had a similar experience in some rallies as described above. Each game i had at least 1 rally i just couldnt finish. Its usually when your opponent (or yourself) is running back and forth. When my opponent was stationary i usually had no problems powering a weak ball past him.

if i got my opponent to hit a weak ball then i want to have a chance to hit a winner, but it´s impossible (without having a good volley stat) because

1)a powershot does not go anywhere near the line but to the middle of the court and its WAY TO SLOW!

Personally i have good experience mixing up a power shot to the open court and a diagonal short top spin powershot.

I think that it would be best if power shots on weak balls had more chance of going closer to the lines. That would solve this issue immediatly. Otherwise speed should affect a player more so a power player could never reach those balls where as a defensive baseliner could.

Oh ! I forgot , my current character has 40 volley and I still come to the net and win points , you just cant serve and volkey every point but should come in behind a good shot always , RL tennis or not

Yep. Same thing. You have to learn how to volley even with 40. You need to know how to finish points.

How can you complain that a 3 set match taking 2 hours is unrealistic?

I'm seeing stuff like "I played a set it was 7-5 and it took 40 minutes! That sucks!"

Last I checked these were the real amounts of time it took to complete a set IRL.

Good job 2K. Better power / speed / accuracy on short, low power balls and you have yourself an extremely good tennis game.

it does suck, because if i wanted to play a 40 minute set. I would go play real tennis. But dont get me wrong, i like the patch, i think it made the game better.

I started off not being so sure about TS4, but it has grown on me.

In contrast ,i just had the best tennis matches games ever , i had a couple of on line matches where i felt like i was playing tennis , sans the sweat and the broken rackets , if you enjoyed the stuttering split step , endless crazy angles and unrealistic low amount of UE then ypu should play virtua tennis

Edit: the longest rally i played in WT so far is 35 in clay , if you are hitting thatany balls back then you need tO learn to vary shots

I just can't get over the fact of 50 shot rallies people talk about. For gods sakes! ANYONE, SHOW ME! My rallies last anywere from 2 to 10, sometimes 15 and VERY rearly go over 20 shots.

Maybe its me.

Agreed, I have never had a 50 shot rally. There are so many shots on offers and ways to end even the longer of points. If I come up against a player of my level the rallies can, at times, go on in excess of 10 or 15 put rarely more than that...
