PES 2009 or Fifa 2009?

Postby Licoaldo » Sat, 18 Oct 2008 19:37

Which of the games you guys thought came out better?
I haven't tried either really.

I own PES 2008 and I was quite frustrated with the gameplay and even the graphics. After MSG4 I hoped Konami would be back on track.
But most of my PSN friends are all day long playing the new fifa!!

Anyone's got an opinion already?
I know some players here on the tour even got both of them!!

2 U.S. & French Doubles' Finals
542 Tournaments, 1024 vs. Opp., 1204 Rds.
Davis Cups/Captain/Rds.: 07/05/11

hard to say, FIFA 09 has better graphics and all the official teams licences and PES is better as a simulator, but the real problem for me is that PES has lost Spanish League( La Liga) license...so, I believe i would choose FIFA09
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

i bought fifa 09 and really like it, it feels and plays like a next gen football sim.
I downloaded the PES 2009 and i wasn't impressed...
The gameplay feels clunky compared to fifa's flowing matches, and overall i felt that PES didnt feel or play like a next gen game.
Thats my opinion... 8)

Really? Then there is almost no license left any more... :? That sucks.

Btw, is it right that there is a new play mode which allows you to create one player and play an entire career only controlling this one?

Yeh, but it is basically copying the Be A Pro mode from fifa 08/09

Actually it's old in the japanese winning eleven series. I had an old copy for PS2 which already had the "Fantasista" mode where you controlled a player from the J-League. It dates back to 3 or 4 years ago I think.

Wasn't this mode in PES already last year and now is also in FIFA?
Well, that is something I am dreaming of for a long time. But where everybody just plays one single player and where 11 of a team play against 11 of the other team.
Well ok, the connection shouldn't be too bad, but I think that would rock.

Back to the topic: I haven't play any of these games, but I absolutely prefer the PES series. I was a Fifa fan when I was very young, but I really enjoy simulation games more by now.

The big mess about PES is the missing licenses...PC gamers have a slight advantage though as there are always eager communities who create databases with all the up-to-date licenses

Maybe I give Fifa this year a try. I heard from several people now that Fifa improved a lot, whereas PES did not make big leaps...
