Who cares ... Nadal didn't play for Spain ... Federer didn't play for Switzerland. The winnng team won't truly be the best at anything, not really. The Davis Cup is a joke!![]()

Did you ever like the Davis Cup![]()
I mean, Switzerland wouldn't be the best country anyway. They only have one good player.
And Spain. Nadal was injured, so he couldn't play. But he probably would if he could

Granted Switzerland wouldn't win even with Federer, but it's the principle of the thing. How great can the event be if the best player has no interest in representing his country.
Nadal feigns injury so he doesn't have to waste his time and energy - avoiding pissing off his country in the process.
It's frustrating because I think the Davis Cup could be one for the greatest sporting events - if it was condensed into, say, a four week event held once every two, possibly every three years.
Tennis has a lot of things wrong - and this is one of them.![]()
Sherlock 117 wrote: I don't think Nadal feigned his injury, and Federer is one of very few top players who do not play Davis Cup. Look at who does in the top 10. Nadal (usually), Roddick, Blake, Nalbandian, Davydenko, Djokovic, Gonzalez, Robredo, Ljubicic, Haas, Murray (okay he will be in the top 10). That's everyone except Federer Mr. Neanderpaul.

Roddick pulled his hamstring in Miami, but the next day even while hurt said he expects to play davis cup. they have commitment and INTEGRITY. as do players like Nalbandian, Hewitt, Henmin, Robredo, Ancic, Lubicic and all those great players that deticate themselves in representing their countries. What can be a joke about that? that people represent themselves for their countries? its an honor to do so. there is no jokes about that ....
Johnnn Boyyy wrote:representing your country is more important to them than winning titles. they actually have values while fed and nadal are selfish egotistical players who care nothing more than winning and becoming legends. sometimes you forget what you are really playing for.
