Do you watch REAL TENNIS In TV?

Postby mcfed » Sat, 01 Jul 2006 11:07

Hi. I saw that there had been a poll about the atp, but not about the wta.
So, do you watch as many tennis matches as possible or do you only watch atp, only wta, only grand slams or all?
Well, I watch ATP tnts and WTA. The only problem is that Eurosport, which is almost the only channel which broadcasts tennis, only shows the WTA tour.
But I follow the ATP e.g. on the official website.

But of course I also visit the WTA website 8) 8)
Here are also other tennis websites:
The ITF (international tennis federation)
Arag World Team Cup
Davis Cup
Fed Cup
Champions Tour (of the "oldies" )
Masters-Series
Masters Cup
Here is the most important site of all

I can't vote in this as in England we only get to see the Stella Artois Cup and Wimbledon. We sometimes get to see a bit of the other grandslams but if a Brittish player isn't playing then they cut the matches up and you don't allways get to watch the whole thing. This really makes me mad as i'd love to follow real tennis in more depth. The only way to do this is to get sky TV and this costs alot of money in England. :(

However we do get very excited about Wimledon in England. Its much touted as the best and most prestigeous tennis tourney in England and I was wondering if people in other countries think it is too?

I really hope England win in the football today and if we loose I hope our players don't bring shame on their country by crying and trying to fight the other team after the match like the Argentines did. Having said that it was very very funny.

Oh. I am very sad to hear this, because in my opinion tennis is the greatest sport. Only Football comes very close.
And yes (All Portugese may hate me now): I hope England wins, because they can play a lot of better than they did. And when both teams play their best, it will be a close match!!

live on premiere without breaks at 14 o clock!! Only 34 Euro for the sport channel 45 for everything. Pretty nice! And yes for me Wimbledon is the best grand slam and best tournament the whole season. Maybe because Boris won it
This is Lampard

Hi,

i watch a lot of tennis
my favourite is the WTA tour and of course the grand slams
i don't watch ATP tennis because usually there is a favourite (Federer :? )
and a bad player. The winner is..... Federer.
There is no tension

so i only watch ATP tennis in Grand Slams.

And in WTA tnt there is a lot of tension because the nr. 130 can win
vs. players like Mauresmo, Sharapova or Petrova.

The ATP-tour is more than just Federer. I'd say that it's the men's game that has more depth than the women's. Look at Wimbledon now. Lots of easy wins for the high ranked females, but a good number of upsets in the male tournament.

Womens tennis is really bad. Tennis, football and icehockey are all sports where women really cant play. I am sorry to say this but it is just no fun watching the sport being played so badly. Yeah sure federer is a class above the rest at times but to say that upsets are more likely in womens tennis is just plain wrong.

Yes. You may be right Rocketsfall. For example Murray isn't the best player and look at him: He won against Roddick yesterday. (Roddick: 3rd seeded; 2 times in final of Wimbledon; 2 times winner in the Queen's Club!!) And Roddick had not a big chance. He lost in 3 sets!!
And Aggassi, well, I am sad that he lost to Nadal, because I don't like Rafael a lot. In my opinion, he feels a bit too cool :) :)
I think the atp tour is interesting, when you only are interested in which player will come into the final and finally loose against Federer.
But the WTA-Tour is a bit boring: It looks as if it is tennis in slow motion.
