one word: steroids
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I think it's reasonable they can. I mean, I don't think that is even that extreme for some females I've seen (ie at the olympics). She just has a bulky body, the she has converted into heaps of muscle.

It's a little sexist to say that a woman couldn't reach those level without anything. I'm pretty sure you could have seen woman like that back in the days it was to move about a lot and stuff. Y'know, the Cro days. An average guy nowadays could reach that without any enhancement drugs and without going to the gym as much as tennis players do, so I think it's reasonable to think woman can do it too. Obviously, there are differences and women would probably have to gym fairly regularly, but as a woman who has always been quite heavily built, I don't think it would have been much of a problem for her.

Not that I find it attractive at all, but yeah.

Nadal said that he never visits the gym. How can he have such muscles then?

Nadal and Serena should play mixed. :D

I have friends who has never visited a gym with more muscles than Nadal, and i have friends going 4 days a week with less muscles than Karlovic  , don't know the reason, nutrition??

btw Nadal is famous because when he started playing with that sleeveless top you could really see his muscles but lot of players have big muscles, Monfils (bigger than Rafa) and Verdasco for example

I think Verdasco spends more hours at the gym working out than playing tennis hahaha

Capture them in the right moments and they all seem to have bulging arms.

Otherwise Sharapova is very lean. Just like Federer's left arm :D

Damn guys, this is nothing.....I have bigger muscles :D and I don't do any drugs, just working out a few times a week.
(that is in Rafa defense)

TV and photo a lot of times make players look a bit bulkier than they really are.

As far as Serena, well, I have a friend, who is also a black woman with that type of body. In fact she is a fitness model/body builder. And she is not looking as muscular and ripped as Serena does. And this is a Woman that does this for a living. She eats and breaths fitness. Not saying Serena is not all natural, but just saying that for a woman to achieve this is extremely hard. Although if anything, the black woman has THE best genetics to actually do that.

It's interesting to see how different Venus and Serena look like. Venus is 6'1 and Serena is 5'9 yet probably weighs more.

Venus takes after her father and Serena after her mom, figure-wise.

Tennis players will never be proper stacked, unless they want to lose a lot as agility and speed and footwork are too important than just smashing the ball hard. Monfils and verdasco above are about as big as they will get with lots of lean muscle. Michael Russell is relatively built for a tennis player as well. Look at roddick 2009,lost a few pounds and had probably his best year, fish in 2010 or 11 can't remember lost like 10-15lb and really improved.
