Yes, pity Gasquet doesn't have the physical abilities to win a 5 setter on clay. His match vs Murray in 2010 1st round was such a bummer as well, leading 2 sets to love and letting Murray coming back because he couldn't stand the distance. That's also one of the reasons i think Tsonga can make it tomorrow vs Fed if it's gonna be another long 5 setter.

Speaking of 1 handed bh's - at least 8 of the round of 16 players have a 1 hander. There may be more than 8, but there are a couple of guys who I would have to watch to be reminded if they have a 1 or 2 hander.

The relatively 1 handed backhand dominance is just because of the surface, clay.

In my opinion the one handed BH players need more time to execute the shot and clay gives you that extra time, but on the other hand the high ball is not good for 1 handed players. Clay specialists are players with lots of top spin and they usually abuse of top spin when they face players like Fed (a nightmare for him, we all know he can barely hit 5 high balls in a row with his BH), Wawrinka, Gasquet etc because they know these players are not comfortable hitting that shot.

That being said, form my own experience (i play with 2) but my bro uses 1 handed, he has some trouble hitting high balls but not because the height itself but because of the eastern grip he uses, the grip is the key i think.

A good one handed backhand will always lose against a good two handed backhand.

Federer can attest to that.
