Pros and Cons of Tennis Elbow

Postby willybeama » Tue, 28 May 2013 08:56

Pros:
sound effects
court selections
animations
career modes
difficulty settings
camera angles
replays

Cons:
Rallies feel the same after a while
Very little nuance in gameplay (balls have same trajectory 90% of the time)
becomes kind of boring after a while
It's ok at first but I am not motivated to play it further and I've lost interest. It doesn't keep me wanting more.

That's all. Am I the only one who feels the rallies sometimes feel like Top Spin 4? Oh well, at least they tried...

Pros for me: (with ITST mod)
enhanced graphics
over 70 courts selection
animations
grunts (extremely important)
umpire calls
lots of players
camera's customizability
custom ball size and blur

Cons:
Really hard to hit clean shots
Hard to learn

I'm still interested in this game since I haven't beaten it yet. I go to the net, I use short slices, my weird mapping of buttons allows me to use accelerated slice bug. I can return really well with auto-pos trick.
Still haven't beaten incredible sublevel 1 after playing with it for over a month. All those things keep me interested in the game. I guess you're not challenging yourself enough to get your interest going.

Every set is different.

Rallies don't look the same at all. In a same match, good players may change a lot their tactics, and then, the exchanges completely change. With the stamina management, you are sometimes forced to do complete different things (go more to the net etc). I think this is also the difference between great players and average who don't vary a lot.

Personally, I play it for more than 1 year and I'm absolutely not bored. Maybe it's because I try to progress.
I firstly took Tsonga, playing like he did in real life.
After a while I realize I had more fun at the net, so I picked Llodra for a very long period and play full Sv style.
For US tourney, I picked Nadal to become stronger in defense and rallies and picked again Llodra till the end of the season.

2013 : Gasquet to play as varied/offensive player, then Simon to play as a Pusher, after Verdasco to take the advantage from the spin and now Haas to play a very offensive tennis.

With each character, it's like a total new tennis game, you can't ger bored ! If you are, it's because you don't test new stuff and don't exploit the richness of the game :)

I don't know. I've played it a little over 6 months on and off. I lose interest when I can't get the ball to move from it's pre-destined paths( i.e.- balls are always deep, angled balls are sometimes short crosscourt most times not, etc). Not to mention I just feel like it's missing some excitement or something. There are never any, wow kinds of shots. Like wow, did you see that? ala Roger Federer. Shots are pretty standard. Maybe it's just me but after about 10 minutes I begin to become dis-interested as I did in Top Spin 4. It might just be me, maybe the game just doesn't appeal to me very much. It's still better than the rest of the games out right now though.

Well when you hit a nice Short accel on line, a reflex volley, a beautiful BH down the line on the line), you can tell yourself it's a great one. Sometimes in Exhibitions I try to reach 3 or 4 lines in a row, it's fun :)

But well, maybe the accelerations shots should be faster, and give a better feeling of power. There should be a system where you can't play more than 2 in an exchange and these 2 would be 90% of time a winner if well executed (but very demanding in terms of skill). This shot would be very explosive ! Maybe that's what TE lacks of

I can understand willybeama's frustration. I kinda feel the same when I play on clay now, but since I started performing on the beautiful Wimbledon grass, I have had the feeling I have been playing an utterly different game, which is so much more enjoyable.

Anyway, we cannot find a better tennis game than ITST TE. :D

Wait a second. Am I the only one who keeps talking to himself during every point or rally? Not loudly but internal talks.
You know like: No that was stupid shot you idiot or come one am I losing to this guy. He can't even properly hit the ball or anything related to the game. You could basically carry on full blown conversation with yourself. Sometimes your opponents tries to outfuck you, but if you give some genius reply, You can always say things like: Are you kidding me this is rookie stuff or Dude I'm not stupid, who the hell do you think I'm.

So yeah that's another thing that entertains me during rallies. I don't do it all the time, but can't stop myself doing some remarks. I don't know maybe it's just me.

Reminds me of Super Shot in Virtua Tennis 4 if you know what I'm talking about.

It mimics tennis realistically...more than any other game that I've had the pleasure of playing. I'm new to it but I've had fun progressing through the career mode. I may be ready to play Wimbledon when the time comes. There really needs to be a Women's Tour before I officially dedicate my time. I think the graphics are fair, and if they revamp this game, they should consider having a more in depth character creation mode. My only critique would be the animations and graphics, other than that, it's spectacular.

I relate to willy's feeling too, but like its been said, TE (w/itst mod) is the best thing there is at present. What really keeps me going is that the top players still destroy me. The room for improvement is ENORMOUS on TE. That should be what keeps you interested Willy.

The last tennis game I played before Tennis Elbow was Top Spin 3 which I really enjoyed until I got to beat the CPU at his highest level.

In TE there's no way you can beat the CPU at the Incredible 10 Level ! If someone knows, please tell me how.
So, you'll always be challenged in this game by somebody
