Really unexpected for me, I didn't see the press conference but he's won titles this year, beaten Fed, and is still right around top 20.
Too bad, he's a great competitor and one of my favorite American players ever despite some bitchy and childish behavior on court.

Those small wins don't really cut it for him. He had a lousy Grand Slam run this year and for such a formerly strong player he's certainly set himself some higher standards than being ranked around 20. Also struggled with some injuries.

Not gonna lie it caught me off guard. Especially with players playing longer and longer.

Definitely going to miss his press conferences.

He'll retire if he gets booted from the US Open early - which he seems to be expecting based on this announcement.

I'd love to see him win the US Open. Doubt he'd retire then.

Congratulations to Andy, now he will have more time to be with Brooklyn Decker. Smart decision.

Arthur Ashe is certainly packed tonight but please don't let Tomic be the guy to end A-Rod's career :D

Still think if Roddick wins a few more matches he won't retire. Just grumpy at the time. Bad mood. Probably had a fight with his butterface wife. :P

He'll always have Wimbledon.

Wimbledon yes, the reason he can't sleep at night or look at anything that resembles grass.
