Steve Hyde?

How many of you have made characters that have Steve Hyde available as a coach? Could someone please say how are the skill levels distributed on that character?

Everywhere it says that you need 10 levels of S&V to unlock Steve Hyde. Well I have a 20-0-0 and another one 18-0-2 and there is no Steve Hyde in the list. I wish to try out the Spin Serve Master + Amazing First Volley combination, but can't seem to find a way to unlock the coach!

It's like unlocking Neuwirth, same speech.
To get Neuwirth you need 10 points to "Offensive Baseline". But it means literally 10, not 11 or 12.
Once you got them, you need to reach 5 pts at "Defensive Baseline"/"Serve and Volley" (or 4+1, 3+2, 2+3, etc.), and finally you'll get Neuwirth.

Same thing for Hyde: 10 pts to SV, then other 5 points (combined) to OB and/or DB, and you'll get Hyde :)

As a general rule, if a coach requires less than 15 points in 1 or 2 categories, you'll need to meet these points and the remaining points until Lv 15-20.

Example Ahmed Meoki: Requires 4 in OBL and 4 in DBL. Since this is well below Lv 15 (when Gold coaches will become available) the remaining points until Lv 15 (7) must be put elsewhere (here, the only choice is putting 7 points into S&V) so that you'll have exactly 4 points in OBL and 4 points in DBL when you hit Lv 15. You can however unlock him right at Lv 20 if you put 12 points into S&V first and then 4 in OBL and DBL.

If a gold coach requires 15 or more points to unlock, the order doesn't matter.

I don't know if the Top4Calc is perfectly right, but according to this tool :
For the coaches who need a certain amount of points in 2 or 3 categories, it's not exactly like that. The constraint is that at least one of the categories must match the necessary number of points. All other categories can have any number of points.
Let's take the same example : Meoki need 4 in OBL and 4 in DBL. The exact thing is : when the Lv 15 will be reached, the player must have 4 in DBL or 4 in OBL. It means that you can (for example) put 4 in DBL, then 4 in OBL, then 7 in DBL. Meoki will still be available because OBL is at 4.

I just read through my other post and got myself confused as well. You can put 4 points into OBL and DBL at any time to unlock Meoki, that's correct. Gold coaches which require at least 15 points to unlock are very straightforward, it's the coaches who require less points which are confusing.

The Calculator seems to be spot on with anything, maybe Till can explain it a bit better.

Here's another interesting observation

Gold coaches that require 16, 17 or 18 overall points to unlock award 50 stat points (Quah, Bickham, Gallo, Kelly, etc.)
Gold coaches that require 13 or 15 points to unlock award 45 stat points (Rabari, Babb, Golakov, etc.)
Gold coaches that require 10 or 12 points to unlock award 40 stat points (Fillion, Neuwirth, Salazar, etc.)
Gold coaches that require less than 10 points to unlock award 35 stat points (Meoki, Chesire, Chalupa, etc.)

Similar rules apply to silver and bronze coaches though according to the calculator there are exceptions.

Silver
12 points = 35 stat points
9 or 10 points = 30 stat points
4, 6 or 8 points = 25 stat points

Exception: Biganowski requires 4 + 4 + 4 points but only awards 30 stat points.

Bronze
6 or 7 points = 25 stat points
2, 3, 4 points = 20 stat points

Exception 1: Wei requires 2 + 2 + 2 points but only awards 20 stat points (instead of 25)
Exception 2: Valenzuela requires 3 OBL and 3 DBL points but is the only coach who only awards 15 stat points (instead of 25, I guess that was a mistake on the programmer's part).
