Hello!

Postby Ranma_Sao » Sun, 09 Dec 2012 07:30

Some of you maybe know me from top spin 4 on PS3. I was retired one year ago after having played few tournaments on TS4 ITST . I'm back on ITST but this time on Tennis Elbow.
I installed it 4 days ago and I improved pretty fast the first day , I could hold rallies pretty well. I played around 30 matches and lost almost all of them (won only 3 matches included one against a 1500+ ELO). I enjoy TE a lot although I still prefer TS4.
I have big problem against good servers, it's very hard to read serve when it is perfectly executed. I barely hit aces myself so I would like to know when you start to press direction and when you stop holding direction? I guess there's no secret to return well but at least if I can be a good server myself to hold my server more easily. I play Federer so any tip will be welcome :)

Yeah , probably because I have feeling it's often the best server who gonna win match. I remember many matches I was dominant in rallies but because I was more inconsistent on my serve than my opponent, I always get broken and lose. Is it forbidden to prefer another tennis game than TE in that forum ?

I prefer TopSpin 4 for 1 simple reason. In TE there are too many players who play with their back pressed against the backboards. In TS4 you can punish that easily with a scc ball, but in TE it actually pays off to play like that

It doesn't. You just didn't train enough to face these players.

I never said I left top spin :) . I'm still very active on top spin but I don't mind playing 2 tennis games
Maybe the day I will be as competitive on TE as I am on TS4, I would prefer TE lol

I agree and hate that. It kills the atmosphere and is very effective. Hence most players do that, and also return from there.

Kinda lame.

I do however agree with Indiantonike, that this tactic is beatable, but only by very best players out there....if you not one of them, sadly, you better join the "glue my ass to the fence" club.

I noticed the backboard playing in some of the te videos. I've played the demo and practiced staying on the baseline and it halfway works against the CPU. I'm sure when you play online conditions change. Is there a way to do a short federer slice to combat back boarding?

b2+up, then down. (drop, hold, down).

It is the strange slice that one player in training made against me? A slice that went in the Middle of the court

B2 + up ist dropshot, right?
So if I understand, you have to press the drop shot combo and when the ball hits the racquet, you have to press down?
Is this correct, Algo?

Dropshot on my individual key mapping is Numpad, button nr. 3.
So I press 3 and then down, right? Alex Jasmins explained it to me some time durnig practice, but I wasn't able to execute.

At work now, but will try it again this evening.

yes, drop shot combo, hold and (at the very last moment before you hit the ball), down.

I really don't understand the reason this shot exists..Don't give me the ''Federer and other tennis players do it often'' story, because the difference is when they do it the opponent can react and not only get to the ball but attack it too.

In TE no matter which camera you're using this shot's ball trajectory is impossible to read and react. On the best case you'll be able to come up with a short weak reply. Also, because it is executed in the last moment before contact, there is no preparation of it to help you read and react to it.
