Greatest Volleyer Ever.

Talk about anything related to the ATP and WTA tours.

So in your eyes because they are different they shouldn't be classed in the same catefory and shouldnt be in running for the greatest volleyer ever. I can see your point but a volley is a volley is a volley whether is a doubles volley driven down the tramlines or a finesse drop volley for the put away.
To win is to achieve success. To compete and lose and try again is greatness

Think so?

I would say Tsonga is the best today...but close to Edberg and the volley ATG s? I don t think so.

No, in my eyes they simply are not as good of a volliers as the all time great SV players like Edberg and Mac, who had to cover the whole court and hit a bigger array of volleys and win Major titles against high class opposition. No doubles player even comes close to these guys, not even in the running, walking, or crawling. It's like comparing a decent 5.0 player to a 6.0 open player and saying "well, its one 1 point away". The reality is that the difference is huge.

And no, a volley is not a volley is a volley. There is a huge difference between volleys that doubles players have to hit with the volleys SV players used to hit. The movement factor, the quality of incoming shot etc...

Now if you were to say that a lot of doubles players nowadays have better volleys than ATP players nowadays - that I agree with. But not when comparing to the Golden SV times.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...
