Backhand

Postby djarvik » Fri, 23 Mar 2012 17:43

Just a fun Poll. :D

Personally, I play with one handed backhand. I started playing back in the day, when SV was the way to go (so to speak). So most of my early training was all about Serve, Big Forehand. My backhand was always the weakest shot and only late in my years I started to pay some serious attention to in.

Nowadays I feel very comfortable with my BH. I actually think it is my more consistent stroke. FH is still my preferred shot, mostly because I can control the placement and spin way better and can put some serious heat on it, but it is the one that can break down more.

I have a single handed backhand.. Still it is my weak point :D
I started playing tennis in 2005 when I saw federer playing in US open and In reality it was federer's bh that impressed me alot. I used to imitate his bh on court.. Still I try to copy his playing style lol

2 handed for me, but I've experienced this same phenomenon the last couple years. Always considered myself a forehand player, but I've been crushing any high balls with a super flat backhand for a while now. The guys I play against hit more to my forehand side now to avoid it. :D

2, my best shot, like Nalbandian's, although now that i'm 31 and just play some tourneys for fun i would love to hit the one handed backhand, after 23 years playing i can say yep it's less effective than the 2 handed BH but more beautiful.

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

One handed,I love those wristy short cross court angles that are only feasible with the one hander.

When I get high and deep balls full of spin on my bh side though I absolutely hate it. :P

2 handed for me and it's always been pretty lousy. I never had a very good coach when I played in school. My forehand has always been a CANNON though I can rip it. I never have anyone good to play with around here though I'm dying to play :(

One handed but my entire backhand is a nightmare. I never got the hang of it really. So i run around it to my forehand a lot. I only play against friends on a low level though. So i can get away with it. :P

1, and it's always been my best shot. Much more variety than my forehand - not only because of the slice, but it's just about the only shot where I feel I am in complete control of the pace, spin, depth, and height. I've gone to quite a few coaches, and they rarely try to make any changes to my backhand.

I learned my backhand by hitting against a wall. I would just hit it as hard and flat as I could, and closed my grip until the ball hit the wall just above net level.

My forehand's a mess though - I've tried making so many changes to it that I have no consistency anymore.

Do you two-hander guys sometimes hit a sliced one-hand or always a flat two-hand?

I have a 1 handed backhand but it is crap. I need to play more, to try and improve it, and get myself confident. I tend to stop the follow through, or not perform it at all. It's good when I relax and get time, but otherwise it's crap and I slice.

I hit a lot of 1 handed slices on low balls.
