MAC vs PC

Postby Moralspain » Tue, 19 Jul 2011 17:05

I'm curious to know your opinion, this morning i was having a discussion with my workmates about all this stuff, and also about Iphone, HTCs....., technology in general.
In my opinion MACs have been gaining ground to PCs in Europe ( in Spain for sure), for the last 5 years or so, just my feeling? what do you think? if so, why?, easier to use?, more attractive? cooler guy if you have a Mac?
Could you please post where are you from guys?, the continent is enough, and also where do you use them, work? home?

In my case i use Mac at home and PC at work.

I know both systems have positive and negative points, so not trying to get a fight between Mac guys and Pc guys, just post your point of view.

PS: About the mobile phone stuff, 2 of my workmates have HTCs (i have iphone) and we've been testing their capacity and i have to admit that, wow, HTCs are more complicated to use, true, but they're much better devices, problem here is that my grandma could learn how to use an iphone in 1 day, on the other hand she could not use a HTC.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I use my PC as my DVR/BluRay player. The picture quality is better than any DVR or BluRay player can produce, all the software I use is free, but none of it is available for Macs.

Also, I can upgrade the hardware as technology increases, which I'm not sure you can do with a Mac. I like options, and flexibility - so for me, the PC wins hands down.

I think it's clear why the Mac is gaining popularity though: iPhone, iPad, iPod.....

BTW, here's an interesting article about Apple that ran in Wired magazine a few years ago:

You can't use bootcamp for that?

I am using bootcamp for work a lot lately. Its an okay solution for things like this but its by far not perfect.

Anyways, in my opinion the difference between mac and pc is not so big as for useability. The only reason why anyone would go for either system only is for work related purposes.

If i where an enduser i would probably always go for pc.
