Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

its really not very cryptic.

a good number of people are clamoring for drops to be capped or almost banned entirely. the recent anti-cheese referendum already serves to place blame/guilt on anyone who uses them with any frequency. and that post is completely open-ended and up to any interpretation one feels to use with it.

the onslaught against drops could easily evolve into banning coaches, banning skills...which would just be catering to a certain playstyle, i.e. baseliners, while making the gm even more imbalanced and the tour about as homogeneous a field as possible lol.

and ya, arguing is fun

heh, talk about not seeing the woods for the trees...

NOONE but NOONE has suggested, hinted, thought about, notified their parole officers about wanting to ban drop shots for anyone who hits a single drop shot or even maybe a few more.

what we're discussing here, is absolute drop volleys. meaing, no matter what return you hit to them and no matter what position your standing in, pace, etc, the server REFUSES to hit anything OTHER than a drop shot...

and never misses...

how is that NOT cheese?!?

I agree, dropshot should be used if the context fits or makes sense. When it's abused the game loses fluidity and becomes ugly and annoying.

id say its just as cheesy as returning every serve to the right deep corner all match.

thats not really the entire thread, tho. in fact, i dont think anyone even acknowledged or said "absolute" drop volleys, just that kamikazee and some others use them a lot. were talking generally about dropshots AND drop volleys.

this is about the 3rd/4th thread going after drops. same process as TI/MD...just saying.

I agree with you.

one person's cheese is another's definition of 'good strategy'

This is very correct. But since we are a community, our best tool to operate is feedback. Based on what we gathered, overuse of drop shots and drop volleys is what people don't like.

Just like there were complains about certain skills. We took action then and taking action now.

Will there be more problems? Sure! But that is why we are here and why we do what we do. We will evaluate them as they arise and attempt to address them to the best of our abilities. This is why we have members flock to us, and stay with us for years, they know that we are here to listen and make tough decisions. We will protect the integrity of this site and will look out for majorities interest with Tennis in mind. They can be sure we are here to do our best to bring them an enjoyable Simulation to ATP and WTA tours.

hey djarvik could help me decide which is better i had 7/6/6 with matt grody but I wasn't sure it was a good setup so i looking to create a second axel mingnolet setup i have a 9/9 setup with him now im trying to decide whether to go with 10/2/8 or 8/3/9

my 2 cents:

I hit drop shots quite frequently, like once or twice a game depending on my oponent, and I don't consider it cheese. Normally it hits the net! I don't have the skill, so i can't abuse it, and I don't dare use it all the time, but drop shots have a risk reward element that capping them is ridiculous.

As someone said, if we want an entirely realistic set up, we should only use level 10's lol

Pff just played a couple of games World Tour.
Everyone used at least 10 drop shots or so in our three game matches.
Last opponent was the worst, he had Welsh coached and was even return 216 KMH serves with drop shots and I think he had 25 drop shots in our match.

No more world tour for me i'm afraid :(

I really don't have problem with dropshots ...

Player doing a lot of drop shots are usually bad player and they become predictable.
I guess speed is a crucial point for returning drop shots.

I agree this is annoying and boring but they make me laugh every time.
They gonna surprise me once or twice and I'm gonna lose some points but finally they're making more and more direct faults.

Do you guys complain 'cause it's annoying or because you can't find a solution against drop shots?
What are your character's stats ?

Maybe if you struggle to counter drop shots I could give you some tips against that. Not that I'm a top player, just that I feel I win more points than I lose against drop shots cheeser.

The drop shotting on WT is getting out of control. Now, when i have resorted to counter drop everything, it turns into who can hit a drop shot more times in a row so the other guy cant power volley it away. :x

This is exactly what we want to eliminate from competition. Gain the skill to play without drops, or lose every match the choice is quite simple.

And to whomever has been arguing that drop volleys are "so realistic and in tennis" that's great but they're actually cheesier in TS4 than regular drops so don't do them. There are plenty of other volley options anyway.
Norberto H or bust.
