It is flawed, from both perspectives.

It's too easy to dip the ball at the volleyers feet, and at the same time, it's too hard to hit it past them. The result is that you get stuck in these rallies where neither player can put the ball away.

ok I didn't want to be the first one to say it in case I was just being butthurt from struggling against too many s/v but it is an overpowered build atm.
My point about standing at the service line is that you have to not only anticipate where the ball is coming but have to hit a very good volley or your toast. now with s/v builds if you just stand near the service line you can get to almost every single ball. It's harder to hit a ball past a s/v @ the service line than it is someone standing at the baseline even though they techinically should have less time to cover more ground. The speed of s/v is completely messed up. They are too fast and in the mid court and their reach is two times bigger than their actual bodies seem to allow. I've seen s/v guys going the opposite direction of the ball in mid court then magically turn around and still get the ball back. S/V defense at midcourt is way too high.

its tough...because with the patch the cross court shots are not as extreme....so this makes it harder to pass....there is no way to make the volleys miss because that is something that would be completely random

I think some of you may be exaggerating a volleyer's at-net speed. Try playing as one yourselves. It will give you more insight into the weaknesses of s+v.

S&V is so janky post past; it should not take three or four cross court low top spin shots to set up a lob (lob is jacked-its too low and easy to smash) just to win one point. Im sorry but they messed up the s&v post patch it's by far the most annoying style to face. They're fricken walls who dink you out of position or force an error all they have to do is react. they don't even have to hit good vollies they just have to hit in the court, it's fricken lame. i hate it, sorry for the rant but in my opinion it's the only MAJOR flaw in this game.

If you see it this way, perhaps you should consider playing S&V yourself..?

What is funny about s&v, is that a lot of people think it's overpowered.
It's really not. These guys should really try to play with that : it requires a lot of timing, an amazing concentration on each point, placement and service, it's really really hard to be good in that style.

But with a lot of training, you can crush a lot of people.

If you even remotely kind of know what your doing when playing S&V its overpowered in my opinion. Drop volleys are insane, and the physics of volleying are dumb. You can stand on the serve line and pretty much get every single ball hit at you. Lunge 10 feet if you have to and return it with a solid volley. Thats the only things I hate about it. With that said, I understand S&V has nothing but their service games. They just need to fix the physics and lunging a tad bit. You shouldn't be stuck in no mans land(service line) and be able to lunge at almost every single ball hit at you.

I agree. I am a S and Ver myself, and sometimes, i am an inch away from the ball, but I am lunging for it? And then, even if it should be a Passing Shot winner, i amstill lunging forit. So it is flawed both ways. I am like WTF? and then it gives us no reaction time to the next shot. Everyone who thinks S and V is overpowered try playing it your self. It really isnt.

i really enjoy playing at the baseline....before the patch s/v had no chance....after the patch it is the most effective setup there is BAR-NONE!!! i mean Sampras did miss a volley here and there or get pinned beyond the baseline....i think the only solution to all this madness is to have restrictions....but we have to concede to the majority....im afraid restrictions may push many players away....all in all i really LOVE this game i play it almost everyday and for long periods of time thank you ITST and thank you 2K.....never dismiss who makes it possible...thats just a jack ass thing to do

How many of you people saying S&V is overpowered have actually tried playing it? It is very hard to pull off, especially against a good baseliner. Against good players one bad volley means I lose

but i do miss a baseline shot here and there...when you have 90 or above on volley you never miss a volley....if you hit the correct angles you will win the point....im really talking about people with 100 volley and 94 serve its pretty much impossible to break them in a service game....ure only chance is in a tiebreak
