how to arrange matches

Postby ElGuaje Villa07 » Tue, 12 Jul 2011 12:36

i'm having a bit of difficulty arranging matches. I have messaged both my opponents i'm due to play on here via pm. i also have messaged them both via xbox live. I have sent friend requests also.

Am i doing anything wrong?, the one person hasn't accepted my request and just left it as pending, so its hard to see when he's online, and the other is from the USA and as i'm from the UK its going to be pretty hard to find a time we are both on. His friends list is full so i can't add him to see when he is online, although he has replied via pm here stating he would be on this morning 5am CET, thats like 4am Uk time isn't it?, i work early mornings so its hard for me to get on at that time.

My main question is what happens if i have tried to arrange the game, but no one can agree upon a time?, is it generally easy to arrange games here or...?

I've never had problems with arranging matches. I'm from the US also and most of my oppenents are from europe. Just keep using private messaging to keep in contact. Its the best way to schedule matches and thats what tournament hosts use as evidence for a walkover.

5amCET(in the usa) is 7hours behind UK time I believe.

I checked your PM, and it's fine, you did well. That being said you have to be patience because the deadline is the 15th so there's still time to play. BTW to avoid confusions please, the times offered to play must be in CET (Central European Time).

If deadline arrives and the match is not played, there're 2 scenarios:

1) No match: The host decides that nobody deserves to go through, because either the 2 opponents did nothing to get the match played or due to time difference between countries the times offered didn't fit any of the opponents, this last case is nobody's fault, true, but the fairest decision is this one.

2) Walkover: One of the guys goes through because the host decides, by checking the PMs sent through ITST , that he did more than the other guy to play the match.

There's another possibility, not very common, a coin toss decision, that will only be applied when the 2 guys can't play due to connection problems, not talking about lag btw.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

mainly address for the new guys here's a typical PM to arrange a match (It's a recommendation)

Subject:US Open R32 xbox 360

Message:

Hello, we have a match to play.

I'll list my available times in CET.

Monday: From 4pm to 8pm
Tuesday: From 10pm to 12pm
Wednesday: From 9pm to 11pm
I can't play Thursday
Friday: From 6pm to 11pm

I ask you to choose a day and time that suits you best. If none of the times is good, please let me know a time that would work for you.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings

Moralspain

Your opponent can choose a time to play. If he can not play any of those days, he can message you back proposing a new date.

Messages like the followings are useless:

-Match tomorrow
-I´m online now
-Can you play now
-When can you play?
-Tomorow i'll kick your ass
- I want my chicken back, and i want it now

I know what you mean Jay, its a pain in the proverbial trying to arrange matches with folk sometimes. I've been DQ a couple of times because people just decided not to bother trying to arrange a decent time to play, but yet I got the walkover given against me.

To cover yourself mate I would just bombard people with messages asking when they can play lol. That way the mods cant say you haven't made the effort to play lol

If you want to arrange matches just let me know, you let me decide who you want to win the match and I ´ll take care of convincing the other guy to lose ;)

Has the staff ever considering putting a clock on the home page with the current CET?

I'm guessing half the people here are in a different time zone than that, so it would be helpful to have an easy reference to know what the current CET is.

I have suggested this actually. We could call the time ITST time!

Yeah, it's easy to google current CET time and get it -- but it might encourage people to actually use it more if it was right there on the website.
