RESTRICT POWER NOW!

Postby jwestbury661 » Mon, 04 Jul 2011 22:24

its about time there were restrictions to power, i remember 1 guy posted a good formula so that if you had a high power stat you had to have low groundstrokes stast or vice versa. Its got to the point where the game is very boring in that when you play someone with 85 forehand 75 backhand 88 power (i wont mention his name) it is impossible to breka or hold serve. Now i know that the top 20 maybe 30 players will come and say, "oh no its very easy to counter it", but i would really like to know how (please inbox me). So please could someone (eg. rob, sherlock) have a serious look into this. rant over. thanks

i agree, but my issues are with people who have their power stat above 95. 100 power is obviously not realistic. no one's that strong and that accurate, that consistently IRL. between 95-100 the difference is negligible. and regardless of that it's just plain NOT FUN to play. at all.

i play with a power baseliner, yes, but my power stat is 87 (and my speed 56). more than manageable for my opponent.

so to the ITST elders i ask: can this issue be addressed? and what is your opinion?

thank you kindly.

These power guys aren't that hard to counter once you've played them enough, if anything they're boring. You want to know what my power level is? Believe it or not, its at the lowly grey area of 40. I'm new to this and I've only played challengers and qualifyers, but I've played a power guy or two and the only person I've lost to yet had power below 60. Putting a limit on it wouldn't really benefit anybody.

About countering their power. I probably have a very different character than you (I serve & volley), but the tactics I use against power can pretty much be used by any playstyle. Even though I only have 40 power, I have 70 on both wings. This makes my groundstrokes very accurate even though they have no power behind them. The first thing you should try is to hit a controlled topspin shot right in the middle of the court (deep of course!). You would be surprised how many players can't handle this shot. Always remember that the slice will be your best friend. A power player cannot hit a strong shot off of a good slice. Being patient will usually reward you with an error from the opponent.

i agree with you most of the time i only lose in tie breaks as all the do is power shots and i can mix-it up my strokes, serve and tactic but t often the can just blast through 88 power is not as bad as 100 power if you mix it p you be able to draw errors from them

i did.

but i do feel power is a bit over used in this game. I have been seeing one setup a lot lately that is killing me and I know its the setup because when I use the exact same setup i beat the other person.

but i think the problem with power comes down to that the players move so fast, speed just doesnt matter.

I think it's not needed.
I often loose against instant rocket/ crushing passing shot guys but it's normal as it is the most played setup.
I won many of them either (I have 50 power).
I think the ones who beat me deserve their win cause they played better than me.
However Tramelines serves are unbearable with high power i agree with that :)

The last 2 ITST matches I played in the futures tourney had 100 power. I didn't have much trouble vs them. Only time I have trouble vs 100 power players is when they tramline serve because they never move their guy back like the should. Even really good 100power players don't affect me too much. I played Ike yesterday with his new 100power player. I lost 7-5 7-6 but i was playing like crap and I broke him a few times and he broke me a few times. Its definitely tough to play them when your game is off though. Must less forgiving then any other setup. But its very easy to be countered.

My last 4-5 opponents had power over 90, its so annoying , i dont care about the fact that they are not comfortable opponents to play with but its not realistic, it seems people think tennis is all about power!
i was losing so bad at the begining but im handling them much better now but still...its so annoying .
i use a lot of slice and most of my returns are in mid of the court, dont know how correct i am, but it wasn't working that bad.

ahah i find this funny, i really do.

1st, people were complaining about MD/TI a lot, because it was impossible to beat bla bla bla (wich it wasn't) ....

Then 2K released a patch, no more MD/TI (well not as effective that before). The SV players were finally happy coz they could beat almost anyone, yey.

Later, people found out that they could beat those SV players with power, so people started creating power players, now SV players complain.

See the point? People should just shut the f#$% up, and play the game, and probably no patches were made and people would just play as it was.

Now, since the 1st complains made 2k change the game, now everyone complains because theres to much power, sv players to strong, i can't make winners, there's a lot of UE, bla bla bla ....

But no one even cares about the real problems the game have.
- Bad online gameplay
- Missing players (Soderling, Del Potro ..... )
- More Outfits
- More character movements
and the list go on ....

But still funny this thread lol

Bitching about people who bitch is the ultimate in bitching. 8)

Should we accept things the way they are? Even if we feel there are room for improvement?

I think think this is simply a matter of personal importance for everyone. To some, that Dunlop racket makes the game....they will bitch about that. To others is the fact that the game was too easy and 2K made a tad harder, now they cannot grasp i, lose matchest....and bitch. Some still believe the game needs more tweaking (me). Some just can't get over the fact that Soderling is not in the game, what an outrage! What? No purple socks to go along with my blue haircut?

Bottom line is that everyone is looking for something different in the game. But what matters to majority is gameplay after all, this is a game that meant to be played, not only looked at. Visuals are important, but they take a second role to gameplay in my book. And it shows. Our draws are larger then ever, new players coming in every week, more tournaments, players online shows almost double since the last patch.

People having an edge afraid to lose it, people not having an edge looking to gain one. In between these people and agendas, there are actually some that truly look at the gameplay from neutral position and simply want it to improve, over all.

Bitching about power was here since day one. Was it addressed? No. Why? ...I don't think there is an issue. Sure 100 power is just silly, personally, I just lose that magic "fantasy tennis" feeling when I see my opponent has that. It takes away from my experience, personally. But I cannot say that I lose to these players. I do lose to IR/CPS.

More player balancing updates coming soon guys! ;)

Big thanks to 2K for staying with the product, supporting it.
