How to against the powerful players?

Postby Andy Johnson 8 » Sun, 19 Jun 2011 23:04

I feel helpless when I am facing the opponent who has over 90 power and forehand/backhand. The only weakness of these players is the speed. But it seems that the speed is not so important in this game. The slow player can just run over the court, return any balls. That means they have no obvious weakness.

So anyone have some hints? My player is 18DB+2OB with the coach Welch.

mix things up. use different spins, depth, pace, whatever, that stops them from setting up their power shots.

at first...it will never be fun to play these players!

i usually try to hit deep Topspins and Slices to left and right to make them run and feel uncomfortable, then try to finish off with either pwr flat/topspin or drop shot.

Another way is to be a badass pusher and wait for faults...they will come, because most of then just do pwr flat, pwr flat pwr flat the whole match so stamina won't last long.

Do serves than cant be returned with a good pace, mix them up as much as its possible, only flat stick serve when u can ace them.

I like to mix a lot my strikes against power players, changing the pace all match long. And generally I like to bring them to the net. The majority of them have bad volley stats and poor speed.

I so understand what you are saying! The problem is: Because of the update it's VERY hard to play against a good power player..

All I can think of are actually 2 solutions.

1. Make a power player yourselve and overplay them.
2. Use the skill made as a weakness for this coach, like MD.. oh sh*t it's banned..

You are absolutely right mate, I'm a high ranked player and I also agree it's VERY hard to beat these kind of players, and the biggest problem is: They disabled there biggest weakness! that's why I made one myself.

It is a REALLY BIG shame they banned Monster Defense because now a powerplayer is definetely the best you can have in this game players without MD have really hard time to return these kind of balls deep in the court. This game is tought out really well giving all coaches there weakness, It's so wrong to ban them without knowing what the consequences are.

Dennie, thanks for help! For the moment, I don't want to use a powerful player. I just want to follow my style to win.

What part of the game do you struggle against? Their serves? Rallies?

More their constant strikes of flat shots.. if you play against a really good power player he keeps on striking them. There is nothing you can do because your power stat is simply not high enough. All I can think of is play all balls to the centre of the court, so they can't make their corners so easily;)

If you have shot counter as a skill, you can CRUSH their power shots back at them. I don't have a character like that at the moment, but I used to and it was nice.

Another thing you can do is hit a lot of drop shots -- it's usually hard for them to get to it because of their low speed, and they will make a lot of errors/leave a ball sitting up for you put away.

Hit deep, crosscourt, topspin control shots. If you hit them well, it's much more difficult for them to hit down the line, so you only have to cover half the court. As soon as you get a short ball, go on offense with angles and power.

You don't want to counter back with a power shot though. That would just be feeding into their strengths. Like Rob said. Deep topspin control shots. They usually can barely get to them and that wil put you on the offensive.

You know a deep slice ball trough the middle has the same effect? Only easier to excecute.. I'm exactly using that tactic but than with deep, slice balls trough the middle. It's a well known tennis rule to in defend, return your balls trough the middle.

In this game its considered cheesy to use slice shots all the time. Its fine when your completely on the defensive. But when you just slice, slice, and slice all match long its a bit cheesy.

But I agree. When your on the run trying to stay in the point a deep slice up the middle is the way to go also

Well if you are playing somebody with a really high power stat like 95 or something, then you need to be slicing all the time, there's nothing else you can do unless you're perfectly set and in position for his shots all the time.

Deep slices up the middle are good, deep slices up the line when they're not expecting it are better
