Just played a game against a decent SV player. Don't know if he was ranked high but I beat him, it was difficult and it took a long time. I'm TI/MD.

I can't recreate my strategy in the form of steps to help you guys out, but it was basically a battle of mind games. He lost because he was unsure of what shot I was going to make.

If at any point you are unsure or unprepared for a shot your opponent can make, you lost. Sorry LOL.

I've been playing S&V since well before the patch, but I'm going to agree with some other people that have said it seems like it's TOO effective now. I was good enough with it before that I usually won my service games handily, but now it's rare for me to even drop a point on serve unless I really screw up.

I've also played several S&Vers in WT (which almost NEVER happened before; I'd only played a handful until the last couple of days) and it's nearly impossible to pass. I'm sure it's harder to pass when you're also playing with an S&V player without a lot of power, but it still seemed inordinately difficult compared to pre-patch.

I guess the simplest way to show the dramatic upswing in effectiveness is just to look at the number of people who use it now. Pre-patch it was still effective if you knew how to play it properly -- now it really seems too easy.

Can you give me some pointers on your weaknesses if I were to encounter someone like you in WT?

I'm ranked 7th all-time and 2nd in north 'murica. But I am scared to death when the loading screen shows an S&V player LOL. Even if he's a low ranked player.

I serve voley and did so b4 the patch my advice is have a player with high reflex and or diesel returner and try and take the return early ,and despite people's abilty to hit drop volleys or low volleys becuase they know how to time drop shots.hitting an early hit low return makes the volley diffcult and if they are really good they may make more drop volleys than you like but it still effective and more so against the people simply use SV because of the patch makes it stronger but dnt know how hit half volley off the ground effectively. short slices and short dipping topspins to their body.. also for wide serve volley slice down the line.

I didn´t face a SV player yet. Does anyone think that using Sahy Rabari, with his crushing passing shot, is usefull? I like to use power players, but this coach is not my first option right now.

I find all this weird. I never had trouble with S&V players before the patch. I'm yet to play one after, but I don't get the feeling it will be that much more different, with the exception of it being a little harder to pass them. :?

I feel the same Vieira. I faced some S&V players online. Maybe they where crap, i dont know. It usually takes me about two control shots to put them on the wrong foot.

That's true. A couple of short top spin control shots and you are in control. :?

Good to know. I´ll try it when I face my first SV opponent. Thanks
