Flat spin

Postby MrMackNasty » Tue, 07 Jun 2011 23:17

I just got done playing an ITST match and my oppenent said try using flat spin control and normal shots more. I just don't get when to use them. It always seems like when i do they are weak and i just get owned after that. If someone could explain or just help a little that would be great. Im not talking about flat spin power shots because I use those when the bounce is right and my positioning is good to finish off a point.

It's difficult to answer this question, but they do have very important uses. The best thing to do is experiment with them. Maybe play some practice matches where you consciously try and hit this shot as much as possible and figure out when it works and when it doesn't.

Yes, that last part, do that.

I've played matches against the CPU where I'm just hitting one kind of shot the entire time, just to get a feel for the timing of that shot, in every concievable on-court 'situation'...

Yep, in TS2 I would play against the computer on the hardest difficulty and hit one type of risk shot every single shot to get the timing down. I remember the first time I beat Roddick in a 5 set match using only top spin risk shots. It was pretty epic!
