I'm hoping it will make it more about matchups. Something like: DFB beats S&V, S&V beats OFB, and OFB beats DFB.

Anil was saying how his shot counter was useless against TI. But, it's very useful against hard hitters, and hard hitters now seem to be effective against TI. If they really get it right, there will be no "best" setup. You go with what you're good at, and when you come across a player with a setup that's effective against you.... well, tough shit, deal with it.

the thing i find funny is people moaning about TS MD just have a powerful player to attack it early and its no problem

I am an all-around TI MD player with 3-9-8

My only strength used to be my forehand which was 88. After the patch, my forehand is down to 79 and my backhand is 61(previously 68 ).

I am currently ranked 7th all-time on WT, and 2nd in north america without abusing power or spin serves - but I don't think those credentials matter on this forum

I will probably be the first TI/MD player to say that I LOVE THIS PATCH! I was previously pounded left and right by good power-abusing hitters(I dealt with a good majority of them but against top 10 it gets difficult).

I can now set up long rallies which works to my advantage as a TI/MD player. The best advice I can give to anyone struggling adapting to the new patch is keep the opponent deep by hitting the ball to the deep middle. If you even TRY to play short angles all the time on this patch, you are going to get absolutely crushed by someone who knows better.

Keep hitting to the middle to make him back up, and as soon as he hits a weak short shot, you take his weak shot and put it away in your back pocket and walk the funk out of there like a god damn boss.

The advantage of playing the ball in the middle is oft overlooked in my experiences against good players. Playing the middle eliminates the opponent's ability to continuously wrong-foot you on a short cross-court. Of course, there are many counters to many strategies - but if I explained them all here I would have to publish this novel.

I love this patch. The amount of people hitting unforced errors all the time is hilarious, I got a love game with my opponent serving, and me not even needing to hit any winners :D

I play with Becker and after playing some balls he is already losing stamina.

Thats totally unrealistic: 15:0 first game and he ist not able to control ist shots and also serve 100%. Thats much more frust than fun!

Nevertheless to me its boring in general, also in fighting games, when after some patches all characters do lose their personal strengths.

PS: Is there any FAQ, where you can see, what all the shortcuts (e.g TI/MD) do mean?

Still on the fence about the patch..played about 8 matches tonight in 2K (won them all BTW) Open and I gotta say the whole game just 'feels' differently...you have to be in better position to get a good shot now, which is good I guess. At first I completely hated it, I was hitting errors left and right and my guy just felt sluggish, but I suppose I got used to it. There definitely seems to be a little more risk in every shot you take. Also control shots are more important now than before, power shots seem to have been weakened a lot while control shots almost feel stronger, not quite sure yet

No..... but there probably should be.

Lately, the most common are:

TI/MD = Topspin Invasion/Monster Defense
PJQ = Pei Jing Quah, the coach that gives you TI/MD

Stamina clearly has become more important now, which is good. But the problem I see is that power players all have high stamina stats too. That shouldn't be the case. They will be able to overpower you and "over-stamina" you.

Is it possible it has become easier to hit good or perfect shots? I feel like I hit significantly more of those. Or perhaps I'm just paying more attention to it since I know it's now more important to hit with good timing.

I like the patch so far too.. the errors have added a small something to the excitement again..

Although yesterday I had a few games against tigerofintegrity and we had pretty much endless rallies..(before the patch) we had quite a few above 30 shots and 2 above or close to 50.. I hope this patch has addressed the ability to hit winners (with the ITST limited players) and not just addressed errors..

I look foreword to trying out the game more post patch

I repeat myself, but its nonsense that you lose nearly half of stamina after 1 single ralley, means after 30 seconds of the match.

Compared 2 reality most pros play their BEST TENNIS after 3 hours of gameplay, so this new addition to me is completely XXX

I agree I think it is a bit much, how easily you get tired...maybe this just means you have to use more control shots though
