Hi everyone

sorry i wasnt much active in the community these past few weeks, i am submerged with work and barely have the time to play the game. Also the national inter-clubs games have started and i am playing every week-end (lost my last match 7-6 in the 3rd in a great match but sour defeat!)

Anyway. In my first round against hoochie i won 6-0 6-0. We had some interesting rallies and it was interesting to play her because she didnt play like most itst players do so it felt fresh. I won easily mainly because I played "in the zone" (i was a bit drunk after drinking champagne after my inter-club win that day :) )and it was a fantastic feeling. I never played that well. I dont remember the setup of her player but it was mainly a defensive one around 65 FH and BH.
Here's my own setup:
FH 75, BH 65, SRV 68, VOL 46, POW81, STA 84, SPE 63, REF 68.
skills: counter shot, longer better.

Then as i said the next day i played inter-clubs and lost my match in a 3rd set tie-breaker, all my other teamates were annihilated violently and i lost the double with my partner while we were undefeated for 2 years. What a sad day. I shouldnt have drink this damn champagne the day before.

So i was kind of depressed, not drunk, and tried to get my revenge playing TS4 while LuckyStef asked me to play the 2nd round. I took a beating 6-0 6-3.

I used the same player. Luckystef's setup:
FH 81, BH 72, SRV 66, VOL 39, POW 72, STA 93, SPE 75, REF 52.
don't remember his skills.

We started kind of even. I felt i could break him the first game. Then i lost my serve 0-40. He confirmed the break. 0-3, here we go. Mentally going downhill i could still enjoy what was going on despite the fact i played poorly. In the first round i played drunk and my player was responding like he was on EPO. On this match i was sober but i felt like my character was having hangover. We still had some very fun rallies but they ended with the same result for the most part: Stef winning the point. I think he's a better player than me anyway but i felt i could have done better than that. Cool match nonetheless.

The players setup felt nice, i had more power than him but used mostly control shots, except for the end of 2nd set where i unleashed my fury on almost every hit. lol Stef was defending extremely well and sometimes barely hitting the ball back until he hits a clean winner out of nowhere! Couldnt say anything else than "well played man" each time.

It was also my first time (and only time) playing after the patch. I didnt feel like the split step problem was solved at all. Maybe it is just me who has poor anticipation.
I enjoyed the tournament for the time it last and am looking forward the next one like this.

oui mr berson u make a great point....i use TI/MD...but u dont even hit top spin shots every shot....all good players know that different shots work for different times....and Q-spin, i dont even know who u are, but u sound like ur terrible at this game....no i dont hit deep top shin shots side to side...part of the reason i have so much success is because i mix it up sooo much...

i want any of u guys to play dionl with his 86 power, and u use someone with like 70 power, and see if u can do anything, its next to impossible...i had set points in 1st set, but i had to outplay him like crazy to do so...had i used a guy with 86 power i guarantee i would have won like 6-2 6-2....

all your going to with a rule change like this is change the setup that everyone uses...it will go from TI/MD to 86 power....

also, give the game time...people were saying that TI/MD was the only setup that was possible to win with...WRONG....jon salamas gives u lke 85 speed and is arguably even better than pej ming quah setup....and its a defensive baseliner setup.....

more setups r likely to pop up in the future...so stop complaining and give it some time

i played him with 64 power and actually...if i wasnt THAT bad in playing ts4 it would have of course been possible to beat him.

Just my opinion of course...

Had a really fun match with Infamous Slappy I won 6-7 6-1 6-1. My stats as previously posted he with TI and Longer Better.

First set he went 3-0 up before I broke back twice to lead 4-3, he broke back and had set point on my serve before winning it 7-2 in the breaker.

In the second I went 3-1 up but still every game was tight, I don't think there were any love service games in the match. In the third we started with three straight breaks and he points for he fourth but I held for 3-1 and won through.

Firstly his serves were better than mine, closer to the lines but I was able to really connect with my returns especially with the top spin whereas he could not punish me on mine quite as much.

Every point was long but we were using all the shots and having a lot of varied rallies although I did seems to get caught mid court a lot.

His stamina was his highest stat but even with longer better skill Im not sure if he really felt the benefit of it.

My 1st serve % was 79% winning 58% of points, his 73% winning 49%. I hit 83 winner to 9 errors, he hit 71 winners and 9 errors.

Im not sure if it's the stats or just the approach people have to these events but I'm having fun.

Just played my match against Brazegoesmoo, he beat me 6-0 6-2 I think.

My stats were

FH 64
BH 74
SRV 66
VOL 47
POW 79
STA 84
SPE 66
REF 70

Skills were 'shot counter' and 'Longer Better' Coach Madr I think

Was pretty much one sided apart from a few rallies I won, the main thing I noticed was that his stamina and speed was brilliant, took alot to get past him, but he was still able to pull off them short cross court shots so does the TSI skill really make a difference? So everytime he pulled me off the court he had an easy winner and I really didnt know how to stop that with my Speed being so low[/b]

well i have play dion many times and yes he has a lot of power and he can hit rockets left and right but because of my great defensives skills i can match up with him. Holla itz mike, i have never played you but i think you got so used to your set up that you just forgot that even if you dont hit tops spin all the time, guess what my friend, the set up is still helping you out. Its all about defense!

Alright, game completed.. Hope it's not too late:

This was an all-rounder leaning counter-puncher vs an aggressive baseliner. The games in the match were all pretty close. I would win points by making power shots as deep as possible to try to force a weak return then attempt to hit to the open court or wrong-foot my opponent. He would depend on attacking relentlessly with top spin and flat shots with the occasional slice to attempt to throw me off.

I'm not too sure if his or my setup is too strong, though I did feel that anger of playing against a top spin invasion opponent the entire time when he'd hit crazy winners/angles on the run. Both of us seemed to be able to cover a lot of court despite our lower speed rating. This may be because of our high stamina.

I had a problem with his slower paced slice serves on the love-court side. For some reason I couldn't generate any power on my shots and I'd be pulled wide of the serving box and he'd have a free shot to the open court. I'd have to straddle the sideline and hope he didn't hit a hard serve down the T for an ace.

Anyway, here's the stats. If you have any questions ask away. I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to put here :)

Hello :)

I just finished my 2nd match in this tournament.

I'm playing an TI/Slice invasion player who has 80FH/BH, 72 speed, and approximately 65power, 52ref, 80stamina and 40 volley.

Now, the problem is that if you want to forbid TS/MD and MD/IR, you'll have to forbid a lot of coaches and attributes. Indeed, it's still possible to create a character with 9x power & service, which become as overpowered as a TI/MD player.
