Still get points if you start game then retire?

I'd like to know as I don't want to waste my time with a one-sided TI-MD match when.

Hi Brazegoesmoo,

Yes technically if you turn up for the match and then quit, for example after the first game (so 1-0), you will still get the points for getting to the round that you did...

If you don't turn up at all and your opponent is awarded the walkover you will get no points at all, so basically you would not be awarded for any progress (if any) you made into the latter stages of a tournament.

Hope that helps.

BTW I play with Non TI-MD (only played with it a couple of times in tournies to combat my opponents TI-MD setup) so if you would like a nice match invite me man and we can start hitting together.

Technically - yes.

But if we catch you doing it - we wont reward points and may have to take it further.

If something comes up once in a while it is acceptable, otherwise not. This is simply not fair to your opponent who may have cleared up his schedule for your match, took the time to come from work early, or wake up early morning to beat the time differences.

Since you feel like you gonna lose such match - you basically already lost it. So try and concentrate on smaller goals, like winning a game or trying to break him once, or avoiding cross court rallies. Maybe try running a few setup plays and see if they work. Use the time to practice basically.

Djarvik is right on this one. It's not really fair for an opponent if you just quit before you've even played. Besides, in order to improve, you do need to play people who can beat you. I always feel I learn far more from a match I lose than one I win.

If you really can't stand those TI/MD players then use those matches to experiment with different set-ups to see how they match up to it. Once you find one you think is workable against them, play with it until you get good at it and see if you can challenge the good TI/MD users. I mean, that's how I came from my original build to my current one. Lots of losing and experimenting to different player types and then refining my player until I was happy I can handle anything thrown at me.
