Hawkeye Miihawk & SIM is coming....

Postby Baghdad Baghdatis » Thu, 07 Apr 2011 20:36

Well I can't quite believe it - I think I have finally found my exact double!!

After play my Quarter Final Warm-Up match with a white wash win I was desperate for another set, I was only on court for some 20 minutes

I invited Hawkeye Miihawk to a single set match, we had only played once before literally when we first got the game so we were both finding our feet. Now I would say 50% of my online matches I play in between ITST tournaments is Puttu Puttuu. Our games are just mind blowing.

However having played Hawkeye Miihawk (and after 2 years of playing practically everyone in ITST including in all the SIM greats in TS3 like Illuvbilval, Puttu, Djarvik, Zizou, Anil) I can safely say that there is no player like him. From control shots to slices to power shots to volleys to serve volleys to drop shots to approach shots to serve variety etc etc etc.

@Hawkeye - you have just taken my level of enjoyment to a whole new level (including Puttu) and PLEASE stick around for the duration of TS4 ITST because trust me man, there will be a SIM tour, there has to be when you can go this deep into a game and get this level of enjoyment from it.

Now I know we had a touch of lag but this set was still without doubt up there with the most fun I have had on a video game. I was number 1 SIM in the world in TS3 so I have kind of have enough experience in opponents to say what I say

Both of us, coincidently used "shot counter" and "serve counter" coach skills but slightly different stats - f'ing incredible.

@ SIM LOVERS - Play this guy (Puttu, Djarvik, Tenjin, Anil etc) - most of you probably already have...

@ Hawkeye - Play the above, but not before you play me again

@ Djarvik, Xavi (moral), Cro - get off your lazy backsides and get this SIM tour going  Whether you put together a "first draft" and make alterations as you go then great (like you did in TS3), but please, the sooner the f***** better because I can't stand much more of these Topspin Invasion Monster Defense Wannabies

True. I had great fun against him too. He is great player but the FH slices ticked me off.
Really there is no reason to use them anymore . We don't have to prepress anymore like in TS3.
Maybe that changed by now . And should play him again.

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I played Hawkeye Miihawk and yes, he is a good player, we have a rather close matches but always win so far, so it makes me happy to see that he gives you a bit of problems Baggy, maybe my level is not as low as I really think it is

I agree with Anil as well. There is no reason for FH slices unless you defending. Yeah, its in the game and blah... but if you are in pursuit of SIM play, then I say stay away from attacking with FH slices or pre-pressing. You basically are robing yourself from shot selection by pre-pressing. Its fine if you are using a controlled FH slice on the run, sorta like squash shot etc....but pre-pressing and running to FH side only to unleash a mean FH slice deep winner is ....

Right a handful of things I want to address if I may:

Hawkeye Miihawk

1. Forehand Slice: Anil + Djarvik I know you pair cannot stand the forehand slice because "it does not look right" or "is not played in real life" (apart from squash shot) but, as you know, I am occasionally hit them too. For me personally I absolutely agree with you about the shot and as I have said it is simply because in TS3 I was a natural press presser of the buttons. I love the backhand slice but never overused it however especially against you Djarvik I found you hitting to my forehand a lot when I was expecting the backhand and therefore it was always too late to change or the swing / shot would release early...

I have hit the odd forehand slice in TS4 due to the same issue, I have even tried to press a different shot having held the slice and then realized it is coming to my forehand but still its hitting the slice? Is there another way of changing this? Believe you me I get zero enjoyment out of hitting them and it especially makes me cringe when I hit them against you pair because I know how much they wind you both up! Advise how I overcome this and you will see no more from me (the few that you rarely do) - but on a separate not it is no biggy, it's not like it gives an advantage of anything but more just the awkwardness of it. I don't personally it has a lot to do with "not being SIM" but more bad habits, speaking on my behalf there. How about you Miihawk?

2. "Happy to see that he (Miihawk) gives you a bit of problems Baggy" (quote Al)

It is not really about who is king dong at the moment but more about exploring the depth of the game - our set for me just proved to me that there is depth in both game and opponent(s) which pleases me. That said, in exos I can often play more casual, even more creative or SIM-like to the point I want a rally to go on? I am sure we all can at time to time and Miihawk might have been too - whatever, i liked the result. In ITST tournaments I always bring my SIM-like self and my Noberto H competitive streak - you can expect no less from me in TS4 either

The SIM Tour

Right either you chaps are either:

A) Ignoring my calls for a SIM tour to buy yourselves time to create one

B) Ignoring my calls for a SIM tour because you are secretly drawing up a first draft trial and don't want to spill the beans on random forum post and would rather unveil it to the ITST world - this i like

C) Ignoring my calls for a SIM tour because you boys are secretly enjoying Topspin Monster Defense Invasion soooo much that you are like "to hell with SIM for now"

D) Ignoring my calls for a SIM tour because you know I am going to rule the roost when you implement it  8) It is, my destiny

Djarvik, Xavi?

3. OrgaSIM

I absolutely love the bum off this - therefore, if I may, change my ITST gamertag to Baghdad OrgaSIM - I hate Baghdad IV, I must of been drinking or something, and I will change my XBL gamertag to that too. DO you need a PM from me? There is gold benefactor in it if you do

4. Rae1980 is back! Never Surrender!

Man I only missed you off the above list of SIM greats because you have been off the raider in SO long - I almost forgot your name

Yes my friend we have a much nicer game without risk, although I don't think Noberto would agree

Welcome back Ramon, see you online soon.

5. ITST site is down for maintenance (WTF)

Djarivk, Xavi - never a good idea to shut the site down for "Maintenance" when I have Topspin on the brain, I was climbing the walls, well not quite, but nearly......

Thanks guys

Yeah that was a really fun set baghdad. I came so close to breaking you several times but could never convert. Lol somehow you always found a way back. It was like you just said "I've had enough of this!", and then from 0-40 down you would win 6 straight points so easily. It was as if you were joking with me all that time and let me just have a couple points just to make holding your serve a bit more challenging for you lol. You saved like 10 break points, and most of my break chances started out at like 0-40 or 15-40. Baghdad, in TS4, means monster defense. hahaha, you always played better and made less errors everytime you were trailing.
Your random serve and volley threw me off a bit. Lol I do it myself everynow and then, but I wasn't expecting it from you at all.
I'm actually kinda upset that we almost the same character  lol, now I don't feel special anymore hahaha. When I saw Shot counter, return serve counter, 70fh...50vol...70refelx I was like "Baghdad NOOOOO". I was thinking of reporting you for identity theft . Atleast I can say that I'm a true all rounder, a minimum of 6 in all stats, and you're a wannabe all rounder (4, 10, 6). That's 1 difference between us lol, no matter how small .

Thanks RAE, Anil, and djarvik. I actually think I'm an average player. I lost to puttu puttuu 6-1 the first time we played 2 days ago . Hopefully I will deal with his topspin shots better next time.

I usually slice when I need to give myself more time to recover now, and not for offensive purposes like I did against anil. Lol, anil is the only itst one that experienced my slicing at it's worst, but that was back then in the begining. I've made my defensive baseliner more offensive, and I don't use slicing as much as I used to.

If you guys don't like slicing then you'll hate some of the defensive baseliners that I've encountered in WT. These guys have around 85-100 speed, with about 90-100 stamina and have atleast slice invasion or poisoned slices with longer! better! or reach swings expert. Hahaha, anils term "slicey dicey" explains how these matches go best. Some of them are really good too, and it's hard for my all rounder to beat them. If I created a mutant then I can power through them, but alas that is not the case. They get everything back, and they just keep slicing and slicing until they get that right moment to attack. At times, even when you give them a ball to really take a swing at they just slice it back. Things get even worst when you play them on clay. Surprisingly I don't mind. Slicing is effective, but I personally don't have a problem when people slice all the time. Lol, it can be annoying and look unrealistic, but it doesn't bother me.

@baghdad
I'm guessing they'll probably start talking about plans for a sim tour after the warm up tournament. So many good players in ITST, can't wait for a sim tour, and then things will really start to get interesting.

First of all about the SIM tour.

I WAS THE ONE WHO CAME UP WITH IT. No joke. Djarvik Rob and me did it. So mention me hahahaha.

Yeah for that slice problem. I had this in TS3 but I don't prepress in TS4. I even try to avoid the FH slice as a defensive cause even though the intention is defensive they become rather offensive directly.
I am happy I am pushing myself to do so cause my backhand slice is becoming better because of it.
So there you have your solution :-) But even AL hit a FH slice winner by accident and he gave me the point which was a little too much.
I don't mind if it happens by accident of course they even sometimes happen to me in total panic .
But as Hawkeye mentioned he was hitting is as offensive slice after slice but that was back in the day.

I have yet to have played RAE. But RAE you consider TS4 SIM because there are no risk?? What about the errors??? 94 winners vs. 6 errors isn't very SIM :( ??

And for the people who slice on the WT . Doesn't matter . That's why we have ITST so we can play different matches then the WT. And try to simulate tennis.
I play them. Deal with them but overall I think meh :-)

Haha! You know I always mention your name when it comes to the SIM tour creation (as you have seen on other threads) but yes I forgot you this time - however, Anil, I mentioned you as one of the SIM greats and for someone for never played the tour after creating the bleeding thing I reckon you can think yourself lucky to even get a mention

Also, perhaps I was leaving you off the list on purpose? For ignoring all my XBL messages like a weeping baby  No seriously mate you always seem to send random invites to matches with no previous message so even if I was not in a player match when you invited me I always seem to have accepted an message invite from someone else. Then I messaged you (3 times I believe) and not a single reply, no even a full stop :( I reckon you just invites to everyone on your friends list at once and then the first one to accept gets to play the McDaddy yes?

But seriously we need to play some more, i miss our matches and but am not interested in playing TI/MD skill set, its terrible. That said, before any of my warm up matches for ITST tournies I XBL my opponent asking him if he has TI/MD set up because if he does I will use the one I created to stay in tournaments but always say if you have another player who is not TI/MD i would rather use my other 1 of 2 characters (King Baghdad or Jim Courier custom). Thankfully of the 3 MS ITST macthes I have played so far I have had to use TI/MD only once against "The Time Nutter" - the other 2 were with King Baghdad....

I'm tired of being treated differently because I use Top Spin Invasion / Monster Defence

I mean this is my first character I put these coach beacause she seems good , I have no idea.

I know I'm not very good and I only use the incredible power of TSI/MD and when TSI/MD will be over on itst it'll be complicated for me to win a match

But Im tired of that :

My matches against players of ITST looks like this so often:

If I lose I receive a message ""GG Mate".

If I win I receive a message "OMG TSI/MD is ridiculously powerful, I hope ITST ban it soon". I mean I have maybe TSI/MD but I may be a correct level because I have been able to beat you.

Not when we played. :)

Even though I lost it still was a good game in my opinion and you used your players strenghts way better than I used mine.

Let's play a match where you choose a different skill set and I use the same. And let's do it on the same court. I'm sure you will win that match too but it can be an interesting test. And if you win you will be able to ignore complaints about TSI/MD since it comes down to your skill.

OuiMr Berson, let me clear something up for you mate.

You are an incredible player - I can only guess that because you are SO good that other immature players, which on the world tour especially there are loads, can't understand why someone could beat them up so bad

To strenghten my point, when we played a couple of weeks ago we had our first match of TI/MD (both using) and you won 6-2 7-5 so for me that says you are strong because you have to compare like for like. I used TI/MD and so did you so it was absolutely fair.

The points that have I been raising are general ones that show so many people using the setup and it DOES give advantages against players who do not have the setup. However, that is not your fault and it has not been outlawed yet and it may still have place with a general tour going forward but it definately is not SIM in my opinion.

Just to re-iterate you are a fantastic player regardless, and it is great to have new talent like you on ITST. You always conduct yourself in a decent manner over XBL and ITST so people like you are a breath of fresh air. I always personally give you more than just "GG" because I like to congratulate my opponent when they play so well - other people just aint that polite. Heck I played a guy in my 1st round of the warm up and he never sent me a message at all, he just logged off  How rude!

When SIM comes in, and it will, you will must play this tour (as well as your TSI/MD setup or big stacked XP's tour) because as I said before you are a GREAT player pound for pound. Your inside forehands and shot making / timing is second to none and that will not if fade if you use another coach setup - only perhaps you will not be able to rely on topspin for 80% of your shots because they won't be as effective.

Create another player mate so we can have some nice matches, if not you will just have to boss me around with your TSI/MD for a little while longer

Peace
