I can see that for sure. But the others add variety that just isn't possible with the stats alone.

Agree with that too. You do get very different type of games when playing on or the other...

That would depend on how far they took it. I mean, yeah, if they gave you 15 points on power for a defensive player, then that would be true.

I'd rather see the coaches give you no stat points, but just give you skills. Having "Shot Counter" on a S&V character would give you a weapon to help break serve, but it's a strategic weapon, not something you can just use at will.

Rob wait till you play a guy with crushing passing shot and instant rocket online, with about 85+ power. It just made any sort of net play impossible haha. I imagine the same effect wuld be with passing shot sniper and instant rocket too.

And karlovic can't be in the game as his stats would be:-

KILIMANJARO: serve like you are at the summit of africa's highest peak.

AVERAGE SLICE BACKHAND: keep yourself in the point with this 3.5-level backhand.

U.S.S DWIGHT D EISENHOWER: have the turning speed of an aircraft carrier

Coaches are great idea done badly.

Didn't you notice that a lesser Speed is already implemented in this System if you go for OFB or S&V? I mean I am pretty sure you did but your Suggestion goes in the wrong Direction. If you really want to improve something then they should make a 40 Points Speedguy for example so slow that he can't be competitive and that you have to go for other Ways in your Creation and that you can't choose the extreme Way.

I mean making the weak Points really weak and the strong Points really strong and everything connected with a strong Balance. But the Point is, no matter what we Guys discuss in endless Threads, 2K wanted the Game to be this Way and that you are able to make a 20 Levels offensive Baseliner if you like for example. And you can't expect those big Changes in a few Days anyway. And I am pretty sure they would prefer to work for those major Changes on Top Spin 5 already before they spend so much Time for a big TS4 Update.

You know if you like they should develope the greatest Sim in the World but I really don't believe on major Changes through a Patch in this Generation with Top Spin 4 and that even if you say 2K is listening to us for a upcoming Patch.

does anyone else think spectacular volley is a bit weak? i think dive volleys should have been included for every player say if you have a volley rating over 75. The most dive volleys i've hit in a match is 3, and you can't seem to 'control' it, i.e do it at will, whereas every other stat you can use nearly every shot if you wanted to.

Also what does it mean by efficient? are they just better or does it mean efficiency as in taking away less stamina?

The spectacular volleys seem to improve my reach at the net. It has to be a winner straightaway though, as it takes a while to get back on your feet.

That's true. I've hit maybe 15 dive volley with sampras and all but one have been winners, he is a beast at the net, I think maybe better than rafter, for my game style anyway.

He might be yes, but I'm not a fan of Sampras, prefer Rafter :D

It's kind of ruined the game imo. I hit a diving volley winner at least once per match. The first time it was cool; after that, it starts feeling kind of cheap.

In fact, the whole net game just feels wrong to me. I feel like it's impossible for my opponent to pass me unless they have an easy sitter. At the same time, it's too easy to force weak volleys by just dinking the ball low and short.

Hm, a too late topspin shot can be a good passing shot as well, as it's just a moonball really. But agreed, there's something not quite right with the netplay.

I played two matches a few nights ago that completely put me off the game. Both opponents figured out that they could just slice everything low, and it ended up just being the same point over and over. The only effective counter seemed to be drop volleys, but that felt kind of cheap too.

That, combined with the angle fest and the ineffectiveness of deep groundstrokes when playing as a baseliner just makes the game so repetitive. It doesn't feel like I'm playing matches anymore, it just feels like I'm running the same drill over and over.

Have you guys tried the low volley specialist skill? I think it's very helpful for the low (slice) returns.

Off a slow serve, it's very effective - you just have to be careful not to stand too close on the return, or you'll get the chip without the charge, leaving you in no man's land. The problem is that you never know when you're getting a slow serve, since flat serves are so common on second serves.

I haven't tried the low volley skill much, or the first volley skill. That's next on my list.
