After a few one sided matches early on it was great too see a contest like this to really get the tournament started.

Felt sorry for Safina too, that loss must have been humiliating, they should think about moving the womens event to the outside courts the way it's going.

The crushing was on my end. I stayed up all night to watch the match - had to drive my son to school in the morning (score: 7-7) - returned home 15 minutes later. Too late, match over. :x

Since I was crushed, I believe I am now 3 for 3. 8)

Yeah that would be a loss that would hurt.

In bp either hewitt screwed up or nalbandian kind of just went f*ck it and swung freely and when he does that he hits it soo well. Like he one of the few that can just play pure awesome tennis when they have given up.

Backhand up the line *drools* but also he was hitting the ball into the middle of net a lot really bipolar.

Also tsonga petzschner match soo good and had henri leconte commentating lol. Petzschner very impressive with lobs. Also the crowd so on tsongas side and in last few games petzschner just asking crowd to cheer for him.

It was quality tennis I missed first 2 sets tho. I loved how crowd cheering for tsonga the entire time until got double break up in final set.

Watching roddick its amazing how much his backhand has improved over his career, its a pretty reliable shot now

Wish he would 'go for it' a bit more on forehand side, he mostly been looping it this match. His serve incredibly good and only reason got first set.

But yes backhand improved a lot. If only could have his new backhand and volley skills + old forehand(the only aspect which he was better at imo) but I think he can hit like old forehand he jsut choses not to.

if roddick played like he did today (all defense and not hitting any winners) then I think he will be in trouble verse the higher seeds

Im not sure what is wrong with verdasco?

He missing  But seriously he is making a lot of errors. At 3-1 down at 0-40 pulled out best shots it was nalby esque.

Verdasco's just not there right now :(

I hope Nalby can make a run... he deserves to be in at least the quarters.

Fed most likely will come through. Right now it doesn't look like anyone can really threaten him. Even Simon doesn't seem to have the Grand Slam game it takes to beat Fed here.

Tipso's up 5-3!!!! SMH
