I've seen this discussed on another forum and wondered whether people think it would be a good idea to implement in season mode on top spin 4. It would be the same sort of deal as NBA where the players have hot and cold streaks which affects their performance. In the words of someone else:-

A 95 rated Sampras for example is having an off 2 weeks at wimbledon, instead of having an ovr rating of 95, he has 91 for the 2 weeks. Still very possible for him to win wimbledon, but easier to knock him off. Conversely, when Sampras is hot, his ovr is a 99 and nearly unbeatable, bordering on impossible to beat at wimbledon- we've seen this in real-life haven't we???

Of course i don't know how the ratings would or should be generated. And for online play the default rating should stick, i.e. federer is built in the game with an overall rating of 91, nadal 91, roddick 85 etc, and this doesn't change ala top spin 3.

Good idea, I like it.

Some may say that a "skill set" needs to be constant, its the person "using" the skill set that undergoes ups or downs......and its true. But, I think the ups or downs are not significant enough, since all we do is use our fingers.

For example, even the best player lose to a low rank player at least a few times a year. And this is not happening now. There is no way Norberto will lose to someone who is in lower ranks...

...so I think we can use some "help" with this, it will make a game more realistic.

I like it too. I always thought adding injuries would be cool, too.

Diagnosis: Sprained Brain, out for 2 weeks."

that could work too. If the career mode had features such as news items before the tournament, it could be implemented that way, for example "djokovic splits with coach after huge argument" would affect his game at the next tournament. And you are right djarvik, there are many less variables when pushing buttons as there are when playing in real life! so this could even things up a little maybe :)

This could work nicely for surfaces as well. Federer's game on clay could fall from say, 93 on hardcourt to 90 on clay but rise to 95 on grass, where roddick could be 86 on hardcourt, rise to 92-3 on grass but fall to 80 on clay, nadal could be 92 on hardcourt, rise to 94 on grass but 96 on clay, but fall to 90 indoor, you get the idea :)

And plus that part may be able to be replicated online.

Speaking of... I was really hoping they would have added a "you boned 5 Swedish Mistresses which muffed up your swing a bit, chap!" event to the newest Tiger Woods game. These game developers really need to get on the ball.
