OMG  Rambo's influence

.everyday someone gets killed in an attempt to steal his car, to break into his house...this wouldn't be possible without guns.
?? Don't you think the same people using guns to commit crimes now would just use knives if guns were impossible to come by?

I think there is a HUGE difference between legal licensed firearms and corrupt low rank police + illegal gun dealers.

When I went to army in Israel, being this is a small country, I slept home most nights as the travel time was very short. A big percentage of soldiers doing it. So essentially, you have a country full of automatic weapons, everywhere. I was going to restaurants with either my Galil, Uzi or M16. I was going shopping with it, going out at night with it. You sorta have to.

Now I know about terrorism and blah, blah, blah...but...

Let me say this was the safest country as far as crime that I have lived in, and I lived in a few. There are hardly any small crimes being committed for that specific reason: there are always people with automatic guns around. ...and they know how to use the WELL.

Now I am not saying we have to turn into Israel as far as this concerned, but a country with a "decent" legal system and low corruption in "low ranks" police force will only benefit from licensed fire arms. There is no doubt in my mind.

:)

This is a normal scene. I used to go to the beach on weekend and had to take my M16. You HAVE to carry it around all the time.

so it looked something like this:

haha i agree trained authorities such as police can only help as both a detterent and emergency force if the avaliablility of guns is restricted in the general populace. There are ways to "de-gun" places, i live just outside birmingham and our famous Gun Quarter produced weapons for sport and the biritsh army from 1695 until 1919, and practically single handedly armed our entire forces during the crimean and napoleonic wars, and sold a hefty amount of weapons to both confederate and US forces during the american civil war. Since the end of WW1 however, the super strict gun laws in the UK mean the only remaning weapons manufacturers create air pistols and rifles, and there are a couple of gunsmiths that make shotguns. This has meant the availability of firearms to the general population is practically zero, and 95% of all gun crime is gangland-related.

Guns are a necessity.

How else are you gonna blow somebody's head off? There's heads out there that need destroying.
