Seriously... I was hoping for the Dutch to win, but they played a NASTY game. That pic moralspain posted doesn't even do the hard fouls justice. That one kick to the chest could have killed somebody, no joke. There could have been 7 dutch players on the field at the end of the game...

The ref was pretty **** overall actually, but it went both ways. The missed EASY chances from Robben were the difference in the final score. I lost a lot of respect for Robben during this match. He's talented, but one of the worst offenders about diving for fouls with that soccer player look of intense pain on his face. Screaming like a pansy and vaulting 10 meters when someone steps on his toe. Or almost steps on his toe...
And the second goal he didn't score he sprinted straight to the ref to complain. He was certainly fouled, but ended up with a yellow card himself for being an ass about it.

Anyways, congrats to Spain! Seemed like they were the best coming into the WC, but I certainly had doubts after their slow start.

Robben is a talented player but those one-on-one chances he had he should have scored at least one of them.
To be honest I'm not entirely surprised by that though. I don't know his performances in the Bundesliga, but when he was playing in the EPL for Chelsea he missed a bunch of those one on one with the keeper type of opportunities as well.

Robben was acting a fool and yeah he definitely blew some golden chances...good god the Dutch played dirty, it's one thing to 'really want it' but it's another to completely ignore the rules of the sport you're playing

Congrats to Spain. The better team won as expected.

We played one nasty hard game. Too be honest, it was the only way we had a chance of winning last night. We got into the final with a bit of luck. Easy draw and Brazil grossly underestimated us in the second half of Brazil - Holland. If we where going to win last night it was gonna be an ugly win. But their midfield proved to be way to good. Van Bommel and de Jong where just running all over the place to catch up making lots of fouls in the process (and both deserving a red card).

I dont think our coach and players meant to say we where disadvantaged by the ref but just that he put in a very poor performance. And that went both ways. Not giving a red card to van bommel and de jong but also the much to easy given first yellow card for Heitinga and not giving a red card to the spanish player for pushing van bommel to the ground after the play had already been stopped(xavi or iniesta). Dont get me wrong, im 100% sure Spain would still have won if we had a better ref last night.

Gotta defend Robben here as well. First off, he didnt reach his normal level because he just came back from an injury. This injury should have ruled him out for the entire WC but he managed to become fit enough to attend the WC(with the help of some wonder doctor). I think he played at 70% of his abilities. People just got their hopes up because he showed his true skill a few times in the last matches. He knows this very well and got a bit frustrated. Started to complain to the ref (cant really blame him with this ref...) and acted like a crybaby yes. C.Ronaldo cranks out these things out during his morning dump. And he is often acknowledged as the best player in the world.

If you want to single out a Dutch player let it be de Jong. That guy is crazy. Earlier this year he broke the leg of an American player during a friendly match. Almost every match his mind seems to go blank for a minute or so and he does something horrendous.

As a neutral, I disagree.. I thought the ref gave a good performance given what was at stake. He was consistent, tried to let the game flow as much as possible. This was the final, you can see he didn't want to dish out red cards at the early stages which would ruin the game.

If anyone should complain, it should be the Spanish! The ref could have easily sent off De Jong and Van Bommel before any Spanish players had contention to be sent off. This would have left 9 men Holland...

Referring to Heitinga's easy first yellow card.. Puyol had an easy first yellow card given to him too.

With regards to Iniesta pushing down Van Bommel, again, this goes back to the ref being consistent. How could he send Iniesta off when he didn't send De Jong or Van Bommel off? I didn't see any replay of Iniesta's push, but come on, Van Bommel is a much bigger guy than Iniesta! Did he fall a bit too easily there?!

The only major mistake for me was when the ref missed the corner for Holland, and gave a goal kick... Holland can't blame the ref because they concede a goal from a goal kick though.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal was among Spanish fans in Johannesburg who cheered on the national football team in its 1-0 win over The Netherlands on Sunday in the FIFA World Cup final at the Soccer City Stadium.

Nadal admitted to Spanish publication Marca that he was was emotional upon witnessing his country win its first World Cup title. "I cried like a baby," he said. "We have to celebrate for a whole year, because this is unbelievable. It is very difficult to repeat this."

An exuberant Nadal took his trademark bite of the coveted golden trophy while celebrating with the football heroes in the locker room.

The World Cup triumph came exactly seven days after Nadal claimed his second Wimbledon title with victory over Tomas Berdych in the final, an achievement that earned the praise of Spain's manager Vicente del Bosque.
